The question might be silly, but I want to try to explain whatI want to do.

- It's been almost 1,5 years dealing with SMF. Started with SMF 1.1.11  and now 1.1.13

- Since installing lost of mods and uninstalling some of them, I dont feel my system is stable

- SO, what I want to do is this ...

1-  Download pristine installation package of SMF 1.1.13 from SMF download site to my locak disk

2- Make a list of mods that I applied up to now and the boards created up to now

3-  Replace all the code running in my system with the pristine code. Except /attachments directory

4-  Re install mods that was previously in the system.

Since I feel much safer with appyling mods after almost 2 years, I think I'll create an error free system .

Is this viable, or a silly thing to do. I mean, do I loose anything (posts, attacments, videos ) Any mismatch with the DB ? or any other consideration

Your guidance will be highly appreciated.

If you get the large upgrade archive, for the version of SMF that you're using, dearchive it on your computer, then upload everything except upgrade.php to your site, overwriting what you have, now, that will achieve what you want.

Your attachments will still be there and your mods will all still be in your Packages directory, too, just waiting to be applied. :)

Greate news !!!.  I'll try that after taking backups of the existing environement.

   Good news !!

Everything went smooth, I have a brand new and clean system now.

To whom might be interested ;

1-Downloaded the Large Upgrade package from SMF Download site. And unzipped to a directory in my computer.

2- Except /attachment directory I removed everything from my existing system.
**  A notice here, normally /packages dir should stay but since I want a clean system I removed it.
You dont have to do so. Then I installed previously loaded but removed mods from SMF mods site.                  Checking every local modificaiton and applying/creating necessary language files.
My system has languages English and Turkish-utf8. So I took special care in utf8 files like modification-turkish-utf8.php
3-  Maybe due to /packages dir removal, my system didnot come up :-) So I decided to use repair.settings.php, crossed fingures and the system came up :-)

4-  Additional info : I didnt reinstall avea lite, pretty urls since the main reason of all this process was, I sc..d up my system while installing and uninstalling these packages.  Maybe a clean installation will live with them but I didnt dare to install them, at least, for the time being :-)

Now I have every post, every photo that was exisiting in my previous system, even Simple Portal settings and  API keys reserved.

I should warn you that, it was my own way of creating a pristine system and my not be applicable to your
environment, like additional themes or local modifications etc. So take care...
