I've tried searching but haven't had any luck.  I just upgraded to 2.0 and would like to require posts by people with fewer than a certain number of posts, say 5, to require approval before appearing in the forum.  When my forum was running the 1.1.X version, I finally had to turn off registration since too many spam posts were being made by new members.  I've got require moderation turned on, but it looks like that will require moderation of ALL posts, which I don't want.  Is what I'm asking possible?  If so, how do I set it up?  Thanks.

or

admin > configuration > security and moderation > anti-spam

Look for "Post count under which users must pass verification to make a post".

turn on post count based group permissions and set the needed permissions but make sure they dont conflict with the regular member group permissions

admin -> permissions -> settings enable permissions for post count based groups

I had already turned on "Post count under which users must pass verification to make a post" and had it set to five.  That didn't work.  Within 30 minutes of turning registration back on, I had my first spam post.  I've now enabled the post count group, but am not sure what to do next?

Illori

edit the permissions if you have post moderation enabled you can set that for the post count group and remove it from the regular members group and once they get to the next post count group let them post without moderation.

I think that's where I'm confused.  Here's a screen shot of the permissions.  I just changed the groups below Moderator so that Rookies posts now require moderation.  However, they (along with everyone else) are all also regular members so I'm not sure how to deal with that conflict.  How do I remove it from the regular members?

Make it so regular users require post approval as well, your other members will be fine as their post count group will allow them to post without approval.

Are Taxi Squad, Reserve, Stater, Superstar post count groups?

Yes, they are.  I'll look for the place to turn on post required for regular members and enable that.  We'll see what happens. I've deleted the spam member and post from earlier today.  It probably won't be long until another one shows up.  My forum must be in some spammer database.

I'm still missing something.  Had another spam post after I made all the changes I thought were needed. >:(

Illori

was the post approved? can you confirm what post count based group is shown in the post?

Must have been a timing issue. Maybe the spam poster was already logged in when I made the last changes. Everything is working now. It's amazing how many spam posters are creating new accounts and trying to post spam messages. I had disabled new registrations months ago in anticipation of being able to make these changes when 2.0 was released.
