Currently, the news bar is displayed just on the Index page. How to make it display on all pages ?

kat

This is one of those "What a weird place to put it" things, with SMF v2.

Rather than it being where the news settings are, it's under "Theme settings".

If you go to Admin>Current theme, you'll see "Enable random news line in the forum header:". That needs to be checked. You'll need to do that, individually, for each theme, I'm afraid.

There is just this option:

Show news fader on board index:
Fading delay between items for the news fader:

There is no option for making the news feed run in header or all pages

K@: it was a theme setting in 1.1.x as well. :P
But it isnt for all pages. The news feeder isnt placed in the header section (Except for Curve theme)
The news feeder is placed beneath the navigation menu.
So, I want the edits to make it display in all pages of the forum !!!

Any help ?

kat

It shows on all pages, when I set it that way.

So v1.x was weird, too, then. :P

May I PM you the admin login details of my test site to have a look yourself ?

kat

If you like, yeah. I can't see that I can do any more than I've already said, though.

If you use the SMF default theme, does it show, then?

kat

You know... I'm not entirely sure that it's not supposed to be that way.

I can see it in the categories view, but not inside the categories, topics nor posts.

On my site, I get it on every page, though. But, only if I use a custom theme. I don't get it if I use the SMF default theme.

So, I guess the standard way is for it to be as it is. :(

Sorry an' all that.

kat

Doh!

It IS showing on all pages!

Look under the search box... ;)

I was looking in the wrong place, coz it's been moved on my site!

* K@ slaps himself about with a wet kipper.

I've made the news item move about, on your site, so you can see it. ;)

This is what I am saying....that header portion news feeder is just there for SMF curve theme itself.
I have installed inferno theme by dzinerstudio right now.... and as usual, I am not getting the news feeder anywhere except the main index page. :(

kat

Ah... In that case, you need to talk with DZiner Studios.

I believe they deliberately do that sort of thing, for some reason.
