I'd like to add a modification to a 1.x-based forum.

I would like members to have the ability to poke other members while in profile-view. When a member gets poked, they receive a message (a PM) notifying the member that he/she has been poked. In addition, I'd like the poked member to have have the ability to see a list of all members who have poked him/her.

Would this be possible?

Quite possible, yes. I actually did something like that for one of the RC versions of 2.0. It should be quite simple to achieve for any decent coder.

There is one for 2.0: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2921  Back-porting it to 1.1.x shouldn't be difficult, just need to convert the queries and move the hook's code back to file edits. The rest is pretty much the same for both versions.

I found that mod as well, just not familiar enough to convert the codes to 1.x
