Hi, Our host (global gold) has been altering things on their servers so now our emailing wont work. The forum isn't sending out activation emails for new members and we aren't getting topic update ones either. We've spoken to Golbal Gold and they aren't really sure what they changed but everyone with them seems to be having the same issue.

They sent us this vbulletin fix but I have no idea how to use that for a smf forum:

Solution:
in vB options/email options, flag set to "-f" (Some sendmail servers may
require the '-f' parameter to be sent with email calls from PHP. If you are
having problems with users not receiving email, try enabling this option.)
and it works. This was however not necessary before which indicates to me,
that globalgold has change.

Anyone have any idea in how to do that? Thanks!

Think that enabling the -f parameter is actually within email options within the backend of vbulletin, but such an option does not exist in the configuration of mail for SMF.

It's quite possible someone here could advise whether a code change would do the trick but frankly that shouldn't be necessary as SMF should work out of the box with your host. I would strongly recommend you go back to them and say that it's unaceptable for you to be doing code changes on a standard software offering. Maybe time to seek a new host ?

Just thought that I think you can add a -f parameter to the sendmail option in php.ini

Do you have access to that file so we can check ?

Thanks for that :) I've been having a few issues with them so I think we'll just change hosts to someone that supports smf. Looks like thats a much cheaper option anyway. It annoys me that it was working fine until they accidently changed an option. They dont even know what they changed with doesn't leave me with much trust in them.

Changing host sounds like a good idea.

Be sure to check out the hosting board on the forum.
