SA Facebook Mod/Custom profile field

Hello,

I asked this question in the support thread for SA Facebook Integration Mod some time ago, but I haven't received a reply yet (see http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=365503.msg3462032#msg3462032 ).

Basically the question is whether I could, on registration of a user via Facebook, automatically store the name of the person on Facebook in a custom profile field. I believe it already stores the link to their FB profile.

depends what info you want only certain stuff is allowed to be grabbed via the api

I just want the real name, as specified on Facebook. If I'm correct, I think this is used as the default username for the forum registration if there is no username set on Facebook, so I think it's grabbed?

Please let me know if it's possible to store it in a custom profile field upon registration.

yes that is the way it works

No, unfortunately, I believe the mod doesn't already do this.

when i said the mod does this i ment it inserts into the themes table wich is where the custom feilds are stored

so yes the  mod does do this i know i started that project

Yeah it puts it into the database.

I have another problem. When there are custom profile fields and the setting is "Yes, and require entry" (for showing upon registration), I find that users registering via Facebook can register without entering the required information into the fields.

How can I fix this?

in facebook admin there is a setting to enable custom profile feilds  when registering with facebook but that only works if you have it set to manual registration

Yes I understand that, and I have enabled manual registration. But the problem is that users can register via facebook without entering anything into the required custom fields, which is a problem.

But it works fine when users register normally (i.e. NOT through Facebook).

How do I solve this problem?

when you created there custom feild there is
Show on Registration:
is it on
yes and require entry?

setting that to just yes will allowe the user to register with out entering anything
tested this today custom feild work fine on this mod just need to make sure the show on reg setting is on yes and require entry
