I installed this on my 1.1.3 board and everything went just fine(no errors or anything) but I have an issue. while it works as promised with Firefox, in IE7 it doesn't work for me. the "hover" option is a bit of a mess and the show/hide with the text/button just opens to an emoty box. I actually have to highlight the box by doubleclicking in it in order to have the text show. how do I fix this?

EDIT: ok, now it stopped working for me in Firefox.

EDIT #2: I got it to work. I had to change a color setting in the CSS.

Edit: another problem now... (a real one =p)

The spoilertag works only for me, the administrator. I didn't understand what Savage Sully  did to fix it but I would like to know... =(

Admin -> Permissions.

In this menu depeding on wether you have 1.1.3 or 1.1.4 you have to do:

1.1.3
on the left side, there should be two checkboxes without describing text. That's what you are looking for.

It's been a while since I did that, so I don't know which one or both should be checked, sorry. But I figured it out on my own, so it can't be that hard.

1.1.4 You have da dropdown-menu with two blank entries. Like above, I've no idea which one is the right one.

If I remember right you have to check both boxes.

btw: I've upgraded the board today to 1.1.4 and spoiler tag works.

One more question: I need to know how I can embed the spoiler button in the symbol bar (preferably the code button should vanish and the spoilerbutton should appear)

Where can I define which buttons are shown (and who do I connect the buttons to the things they should do?)

Great Mod, I just have 1 question. The Spoiler image isn't showing up when I attempt to post a topic. Where should the image go? Right now, instead of the image, it just says SPOILER.

*EDIT*
And how can I remove the text that says (click to show/hide). It's not necessary, and I'd like to know how to remove it please.

IRJustman

I am running into two issues on this mod:

1.  It does not work under IE (I use IE6 under Win2K and WinXP on the rare occasion when I actually use it  at all) when I use the button mode.

Neither does it work in Opera.  I've tried with 9.0i and 9.23 for Windows.

It DOES, however, work under Firefox.

2.  There appears to be no uninstaller.  The only way I can uninstall this mod (e.g. for upgrading) is to completely reinstall SMF.  Since I don't have a lot of customizations (I'm a webserver administrator, not a website designer), it's not TOO bad, but it's still a royal PITA, and I can only imagine what that could do for someone who has a boatload of customizations, whether via mods or user-customized content.

Any ideas on either issue?  #1 is far more important right now since I know too many people out there still use IE.

Thanks!

hmm...

well, I have an uninstaller for this mod, but I tested the button thing and like IRJustman said, it doesn't work with IE.

How can I do a Spoiler in a Spoiler?

And how can I remove the text that says (click to show/hide). It's not necessary, and I'd like to know how to remove it please.

I have the same problem :( The "spoiler" word appear in the post template instead of a picture icon.I have replaced the 0KB spoiler.gif file under Themes/default/images/bbc/ with the 762KB spoiler.gif file and CHMODED the file to 777(have also tried 755).But the pic icon just won't appear.Have tried clearing the browser cache, temporary internet files and refresh the page.BBC icon still refused to show ... only show the spoiler word for the bbc icon ...

What should I do??

Here's the new unofficial version (0.3.4) that's updated to work with SMF 1.1.4. It should work with all future versions too because I removed the version check from the mod. However, always backup your files before applying this mod just in case. I don't know about compatibility with SMF 2.0 branch since I haven't tested it and in fact I'm not even aware what's new in 2.0.

Where did this new version come from? Sounds like a hack to me...either that or your just not giving the original creator credit

This unofficial version came from my hands as did the previous one. And of course I'm giving the original creator credit. I just modified the install file a bit so that the mod would install on newer SMF versions. Nothing else is changed.

and guests only view them :S

"An Error Has Occurred!
Sorry - you don't have the proper permissions to post spoilers."

and they do!!

That's pretty strange. I encountered that problem first time I've installed the mod (and there is, as far as I remember a possibility to remove the mod, I did this one or two times).

But in my case the permission weren't set. But since you say you did that... which version do you use?

Is this the only spoiler BBC code there is? Is there a button included? and does this work with SMF 1.1.4?

I'm looking for one that does a quote like box, that you can click on to expand and it opens and you can see whats written in there. I use one on my current phpBB2 forum, which I'm converting to SMF.

Thanks.

I installed this mod, and I too have a problem. As a normal member I get an error which states:

Sorry - you don't have the proper permissions to post spoilers.

Also, normal members don't see a spoiler at all, its just space there.

I did set permissions in Admin - Permissions - Membergroups, for all members to post/view spoilers. Maybe there is also another area you need to do this in?

When I try to post a message as a regular member, and preview it with spoilers I get an error in the corner of IE that says

Line: 184
Char: 12
Error: 'getElementsByTagName(...).0' is null or not an object
Code: 0
URL: my boards url - index.php?action=post;board=1.0

As admin, the code works fine, and I can see all the spoilers. It would be really nice if someone who's installed this on 1.1.4 and got it to work for all members would help.

EDIT: Okay, this is how I fixed my above problem. I went into Admin - Permissions - by Membergroup: Down at the bottom there are two boxes for Spoilers, one to view, and one to post them. Check this off for each member group you want to be able to see and post spoilers.

Now, I'm sure there is an easier way to do this next part, but this is how I did it.

Go to Admin - Boards: Go to permissions for EACH board you have, and make sure that spoiler view/post are all checked for EACH membergroup.

Then it works  :)
