Haven't been able to find anything but I would like to put posts in a specific order... part of our forum is for upcoming events and I would like to list them in order according to date... not by the date that the post was made, but the date that is listed in the thread...

any suggestions? links? mods?

any help is appreciated...

No mods..

I then add to the request the necessity of having
a User option for Selecting a key field
of either string or number or date type
in the posts of a topic with Sorted (or Prioritized) Posts.

The sort type should be chosen by the Author of a Sorted topic
as a topic characteristic
and key field could be added far later
than a topic was originally created and started filling.

A special usefull kind of sorting is similar to
arranging the order of forum Boards from the admin panel.
I.e. when the key field is hidden
but the Author could point before or after which post
the selected post should take place..
in the natural (not reversed) mode of topic display.

It is very important that the urls of the posts
(msg_number) should not be changed while rearranging.

One more example of this feature implementing
is publishing of a Law text
which contains a lot of separate numbered items.
The renewing (adding) of the items in the Law-topic
(each new item in a new post)
can proceed not in the order of the items in the Law itself
but in the order of items which are currently needed
  by any User
for linking to the items from the outside of the topic (forum).
Being once added, the post with the item
should take its current place automatically
  in sort order
in order to form the full Law
as it is paper-published in real life
at the moment final item have been posted.

You could edit the date of the posts directly ... right now I'm not sure if it's possible on the forum, but in phpMyAdmin yes. That's a little tricky. Also I don't know what would happen if you set the date to a future date.  So it should need a little testing. :-\ Unfortunately now I'm at job so I can't try it out.  ::)

If you have few topics you want to make this way, then probably it's better the raw way. If you use it a lot ... well, a mod could be made for it.

I will update all my mods in the next few weeks. Thanks for your patience.

Obviously, someone didn't check the customization site before posting to a multi-year-old topic.

Custom Board Sort

Please remember that if a topic is old and you see the warning, it usually isn't a good idea to post in it. It is much better to make a new topic and reference the old.

Also, do search the customization site before making any kind of request. We have several hundred mods there, so the chance is good it exists. It might not be called the same, so search on key words like "sort".
