I'm trying to use the converter to go from Kunena v 2.0.4 to SMF 2.0.7
I downloaded the converter from SMF here:  http://download.simplemachines.org/?converters;software=kunena

The Kunena forum is on a Joomla 1.5 site, the SMF install is free-standing.

I've entered the correct paths (I think?):
SMF path:  /home/mysite/public_html/location/forum
Kunena path:  /home/mysite/public_html/joomla-directory

I entered the SMF database password correctly (double-checked 3 times)
and even made that same user a user on the Joomla database.

But I get "Incorrect database name"
Where am I going wrong?

Does my Joomla config need to reference the SMF database? What is it looking for?

I see older posts about the Kunena converter not working past version 1.5? Is that my problem?
If so, how do I find a newer converter?

Thank you.

This solution (from a different thread on this board) ALMOST solved my problem!
I added the suggested configuration file to components/com_kunena
and used the path as noted below:  joomla_directory/components/com_kunena  for the path to Kunena
And the conversion went through immediately.

HOWEVER - the conversion only pulled over the OLDER messages and data from Fireboard up to 2010. None of the Kunena messages, posts, etc. made it over. NOW WHAT?

Please create a text file named configuration.php, and add in it (using a lightweight code editor like Notepad++ if you're on windows, please don't use microsoft wordpad or word):

<?php
// Legacy configuration file
// If you're using Joomla 1.5 or newer, please add this file
// in your Fireboard/Kunena component directory, before running the converter

$mosConfig_db 'joomla';
$mosConfig_dbprefix 'jos_';

?>

Replace 'joomla' and 'jos_' with your actual joomla database name, and database prefix respectively.
Save, then upload it to your Kunena directory (typically joomla_directory/components/com_kunena).
Then, please try running the converter again.

aly22 sorry for no reply but did you get this sorted? if not can I ask what else you have tried in the last month?

I have marked this as solved for now.
