Anchor adjustment

Hi all!  Hope you're having a great Friday. 

I would like to maintain a static banner at the top of my forum.  Using css position: fixed is easy enough.  The only problem is anchors end up under the banner, i.e. following a "new" link to the first new post means the top is covered by the banner.  How can I adjust the anchor up (or page down)?

Sure, but where?  I'm using FF Web Developer add on but having little success finding where it needs to go.

You probably don't even need relative positioning. A simple margin or padding adjustment on the body tag will probably fix it.
