Couldn't get mail server response codes

I have not changed any forum email settings since 2013 when I started using gmail as I posted about here.
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=525116.0

Here are my port settings.

SMTP server
ssl://smtp.gmail.com

SMTP port
465

Not sure when or why the errors show up. Our forum seems to be running fine. At least I have not noticed anything wrong other then the errors in the log and no members have been reporting any problems.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

They tightened up their enforcement of rfc2821 - the extended HELLO (EHLO) command.

The other gmail thread Kindred mentioned provides a solution.

ApplianceJunk

I have edited the Sources/Subs-Post.php as shown in the other post.
It's only been a few hours since I made the edit, but I have yet to see the error show up since.

I never could figure out exactly what it took to trigger the error.
Could someone tell me?

Thanks,

Shambles
