mos2smf not working for joomla 1.0.2

for some reason, after editing the file for my paths and database info, I keep getting this error:

Warning: mysql_free_result(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/nhfd/public_html/smf/mos2smfusers.php on line 41

first of all, both lines 18 and 41 are completely blank lines... go figure, I just need to immigrate my joomla users into smf
