I strongly suggest you read http://www.lunabyte.net/index.php?topic=4081.0 before deciding whether to use Lunabye for your use. It lists in the entire thread what it does and doesn't do. You should definately make sure what you are after is not in the "doesn't do" department before using Lunabyte.

The entire process is quite quick to integrate gallery2,lunabye&wordpress but as mentioned their are some limitations (more on an integration depth side)

Yeah, someone was complaining at the Enigma site that Wordpress wasn't integrated into SMF. It would have made more sense to ask on this forum for someone to integrate it into SMF. Instead of just going over there and griping about it.

I have integrated SMF with Wordpress on a certain scale.

I use SMF as my comment backend so that my forum users may comment directly in the forum, or may comment directly in the blog.

You can see how it works here http://www.cartalkcanada.com

Hi Wing,
I just looked at your site and it is very smoothly integrated. Could you share exactly how you are doing all of this? Is that really WordPress as your main frontend? Very nice site and very popular it seems. I really envy your success and would love to emulate your great site integration in my niche. Any direction would be much appreciated.

That plugin works fine on my site. But I also want it to work the other way. I occasionally get visitors who see my forum before my blog and sign up on the forums then they have to go through the sign up process again on the forum if they want to sign up for my blog. (There are no errors recorded).

I'm thinking of doing a permanent hack to my site, (I know that I probably shouldn't), but can you please tell me which file has the link to the users table so that I can change the the place where the username and password are stored so that it goes into the blog userbase instead.

Does anyone have a working example of this - the one on their site is down.

I do have it installed on my site. Just gotta activate the plugin in Wordpress. All it does it adds a user to both Wordpress and the forum. No real integration at all.

Have a look and sign up if you want.

Wing!

Just read your post and I was wondering how the devil you managed to do it!

If you could help whatsoever, I'd be ever so grateful.

Many thanks!

I've gone to your site and don't see anything about your forum?  Do you like the plugin?  Is it worth the time?

A little mix up here - Barney was showing that the users are integrated.

I, and superman, would like to see the forum posts within the wordpress page. Thanks!

Sweet - I have managed (with Wings help) to use SMF as the place where comments and stored and edited for Wordpress.

Only issue with it is:

  • When I add a comment to the wordpress side, it does everything right EXCEPT that before it finally submits I get a "Your session timed out while posting. Please try to re-submit your message." Can anyone help with this whatsoever?

An example of where you can leave a comment can be found by clicking here

Thanks!

rockgeek

Managed to integrate the two as I wanted now...

Leave a comment to any of the posts please!
