I also tried to backup my db and restore to somewhere else, but still the same error...

Confirmed.

New 1.1 RC2 Installs do this for all user accounts. Guests are uneffected.

Replication?
Always, create a new 1.1 RC2 board, delete the default board and then the category of it. Create new boards and categorys. Try and enter the board.

Workaround
Recount all totals and statistics in admin panel maintenance section.

Bugger, that's a bug.

Seems to be that maxMsgID is getting lost somewhere. Can you do this in phpMyAdmin:

REPLACE INTO smf_settings (variable, value) VALUES ('maxMsgID', 1);

Once you have one post in your board this will go away.

ok ...so now what do we do about this error .   The forum is unusable right now.

osity

the workaround works!

Recount all totals and statistics in admin panel maintenance section.

sorry to pop this old thread but I'm having the same problem and the work around is not working for me :(

My forum has been up for nearly a year without any problem.  This just started today and I have not made any changes to the forum in the past couple of days.

I had deleted 20 or so old members two weeks ago and one error I did see when I performed the "find and repair any errors" was related to a PM error to a non-existant member.  Member # 5 had been removed and someone must have tried to PM him/her??

anyways.....  I've run every forum maintenance function multiple times and still have this error

this morning all is well and everything seems to be working

Umm it might just have been MySQL errors.  I'll mark it as solved for now then.

Hi there,

We have the same difficulty as Alientech. We tried the recount but that didn't resolve it. We've recently restored a back up of the forum and upgraded to 1.1 RC3.

Here's the error we get when you click " unread posts" :

You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'AND IFNULL(lt.ID_MSG, IFNULL(lmr.ID_MSG, 0)) < t.ID_LAST_MSG' a
File: /forum/Sources/Recent.php
Line: 748

Any help at all would be appreciated. Thank you !

Take care
Kay

we've just discovered that if you click "mark all messages as read" , just above the info center on the main forum page, it resets the "unread posts" and it starts afresh from there onwards.

Just passing that on to see if it helps anyone else :) No more help needed on this for now, thanks anyway!

I spoke too soon, that only works for the time you're logged in and for new posts made during that time. If I come back later, I get the error again. Any ideas gratefully received.

Thanks!
