A new section in the profile

hello everybody,
i'm responsible for a website about my college, it is in smf+tp and I would like to add the following enchancement:
a new field in the profile here users can specify how many lessons they have passed up to now and how many remain until their graduation
there could be only one field, where the user will specify the number of the lessons he has passed, and then the system should be substracting it from the number of all the lessons (a number which the admin should be able to provide)
however an implementantion using to fields here users write the passed & remaing lessons will do the job perfectly

the idea is that these numbers should be visible somewhere under the avatar in this format:

Lessons
Passed: XX
Remaining: XX

any help on how to do such a modification will be greatly appreciated
i must inform you that I don't know php (only some html) but I'm willing to try it
