Basically, you can't re-distribute those particular images. You can do whatever you want with them on your site, but you're not allowed to package them up and distribute them to others.

I dont think that is what he is saying at all.  If I understand correctly... For example... I can give you my OSPOT template which has all of my color coding in it.  What I cannot give you is the default SMF button (which you already have).  We just do not have the rights under the license to re-distribute the buttons and images that were given to the SMF team.  Please correct me if I am in left field on this.
