Where is the actual table of posts drawn in MessageIndex.php?

In many themes, larger tables are nested inside another table which provides cell borders. Then follows a row of headers, empty for two columns for the post and topic icons, then subject, replies, views, last post, and a column for quickmod.

But for the life of me, I can't figure out where the actual table is drawn with the various posts.

What I want to do is use sliced graphics (rounded corners on each end, filler, and a special 1px border between columns) for the headers and move the background table beneath it, but I can't even begin to plan for that if I can't even move the .tborder table down a row.

Is that in a different template, or am I being confused by all the if-then's that follow this row of headers?
