I did find another bug (?): When a emoji is used in a message, the preview doesn't work anymore. See attachment.

Please note that I am not talking about the normal emoticons, which in my case happen to be Emoji One emoji's as well. The emoji in the screenshot is an actual os x emoji.

This is a bug in SMF's 2.0.X preview JavaScript.

I have identified a fix, however didn't include it with the modification.

Since Google recently updated their core keyboard app with Emoji's being easily accessible, I'll go ahead and include the fix in the next update.

Nice mod @Nend, I just tested it. People can now add emojis from their devices which is really cool.

I have a question, what about desktop users? I basically want desktop users to select these new EmojiOne icons rather than the smf default smiles because they look outdated. How do I do that?

Not that I know of.

It isn't a planned feature as adding such a thing would impact server performance and/or user experience. The problem is mainly the massive array that would need to be supported, the EmojiOne library is huge. You can either support it via PHP server side, like BBC or via JavaScript in the browser. Supporting such a feature would increase loads if done server side as it is more items to parse. If done via JavaScript you would then have to send that array to the users browser and then have their device compute it. IMHO it isn't worth the trouble.

I have an issue  with this mod.  If you try and type special characters such as ° ¼ ½ ¾   they do not appear in the post. I uninstalled the mod, and they do.

I am not having this issue on any of my test sites but believe this may have to do with your sites charset. Due to encoding this modification may be only compatible with UTF-8.

You can find your sites encoding in the source view in your browser, look for a line similar to the one below. If it is anything other than UTF-8, then chances are this or any similar modification isn't going to work on your forum.

I installeed this mod on the latest version of SMF and  my forum is now broken. How can I fix. I see a backup in the backup folder, can I use that and how ?
