Characters and signs not appearing correctly

Hi

Running SMF 2.0.2. We haven't patched it for a good while but recently the pound sign is getting converted to a question mark and other funnies are appearing.

The default forum Language is English and character set is ISO-8859-1

Do I need to convert the database to UTF8 or is there something else going wrong?

yes you do need to convert and upgrade to 2.0.13 for security reasons.

I backed up the database and converted to UTF8. Works fine. Need to test the upgrade now.

Please note....  you should be planning to use the PATCH method of upgrading.
