Hello.

I'm one of the developers of the CleanTalk Anti-Spam Mod:
https://custom.simplemachines.org/index.php?mod=3851

I need to update my mod description and seems like it doesn't respond to my actions. I'm still seeing my old description. Initially I had a guess that my new text was sent to moderation but that's not the case, apparently.

Could you help me in updating it? What should I do for my new text to be applied properly?

Thank you.

Aleksi "Lex" Kilpinen

My first guess would be it's pulling the description from GitHub, and so the local edits are not shown.
If not, then there is something off - I tested editing the description, and it did stuck but was not reflected on the mod page.
Could be a stuck cache or something as well - I'm sadly not very familiar with our new cust site.

It'll always attempt to first grab the description from a possible readme either markdown or text in the package.
You can avoid this by using the same readme in the package or moving your readme into a folder and change the path in the package-info.
For markdown, if you don't want it, just don't include it in the package, although I'm assuming this is not your case.

I would actually suggest that we should probably have a quick setting somewhere there to override that behaviour case by case. This would allow the mod author (or the team) to quickly change the description should a need occur, without having to go through loops.

Thank you for your thoughts and recommendations, Aleksi and Diego.
I indeed managed to change the mod description by updating the file "readme.txt" in the archive.
So I conclude that the initial guess about that was correct.

My next question is how long does it take for the SMF system to re-index the mod description? Perhaps I can do something to speed this process up?

At the moment the CleanTalk mod does not appear in the search results by these keywords:
https://custom.simplemachines.org/index.php?action=mods;search=SpamFireWall
https://custom.simplemachines.org/index.php?action=mods;search=anti-spam
https://custom.simplemachines.org/index.php?action=mods;search=security
