sessions and cookies -- use mine or use smf ?

Hi,

I am able to login to the user to my site after verifying the password.
They are logged in to my site, but not on the forums.

I need around 10-15 variables to set in the cookie and sessions. So what is the best way to do it ? Use my own sessions and add the variables required for them to login into smf or use the smf cookie and session and add the variables I need?

either way would work...

Although I'm not sure why you need to set those variables in the cookie?

As for the log in to the forum...   do you have subdomain independent cookies turned on?
