It must be a firefox bug. Try copying the html code into a  test.html file and load it locally. Then add the css files to the test html structure and test again.
I use SMF, why? BECAUSE ITS FREEKIN COOL.

i think your right , it must be a bug in firefox

when I go directly to here
hxxp:www.scriptwit.com/forum/Themes/classic/index.template.php [nonactive]

It still shows those characters even though  the index.template.php is only functions

can anyone verify it happens to them in firefox 1.0, maybe mine is corrupted

Can you try deleting that file (index.template.php) and uploading it again *in TEXT/ASCII mode*?

the file is fine, the board works without a problem accept those pesky characters...

It's been uploaded more than a few times...

The file (http://www.scriptwit.com/forum/Themes/classic/index.template.php) no longer gives me any strange characters.  Nor does the site itself.

Yes I fixed it just before my eyes closed on me for the night.

For some reason the file was in utf-8 format, I converted it to ascii using ultraedit and all was well...

Thanks for all your help
