$smcFunc stripslashes

When I select strings in 2.0 using $smcFunc from my database do I have to use stripslashes still?  Does it do it for me?

I am assuming since $smcFunc['db_escape_string'] and $smcFunc['db_unescape_string'] exist that it doesn't.  Should have looked closer before I posted.  Sorry.
