cant install new themes

Hey i wanted to make some slight color changes to my forum so i copied ALL the files from the default themes folder and renamed the folder as "dark" and when i went into theme and layout settings i put in the path with a trailing "/" at the end and without one and got this error message each time:

That theme directory doesn't exist, or doesn't contain a theme!

Can anyone help? Im running SMF 1.0 Beta 5 Public btw.

You need to install new them from admin panel also. Second, you dont need to copy all files, only those you have changed.

so whats the steps i do after i upload the folder into /Themes ? Just to make sure i didnt miss anything. Thanks

When you create a new theme as Owdy described above only 2 files will be in that new theme: "index.template.php" and "style.css". For color changes only it is sufficient to alter these two files. Only if you want to do more changes you need to copy more files from the "default" theme into your own theme. Each file that is not in your own theme is automatically taken from the "default" theme.

Create the theme 1st in the admin menu and then upload the teme files.

im still having trouble  heres a screenshot of what im putting in on the admin panel and im still getting the same error message

After you writed that 'dark', push that "Install!" .  Then it creates new theme called dark. Then just upload your files to that folder.

thanks alot guys, i was uploading the folder first and then hitting install
