Since you are a SimplePortal users, I think the easiest way to do this is to create a shoutbox and a  shoutbox block for that shoutbox.

Then, use some of the techniques described in "blocks in blocks" to put the contents of your block in the desired template file.

i have 3 issues with this mod if someone can help please
i posted on sp's website but no-one seems to answer
i'm running 2.0 rc4 and sp 2.3.3
the 1st issue is
sp isn't showing for normal users or guests
i have hunted through the admin panel of smf and checked the portal settings
made sure that either forum, all pages or everywhere was ticked
nothing it still won't show

2nd issue
who's online
it doesn't show female icons
ie everyone is male (a little blue make icon)
the tech guys are brown but everyone else is a blue icon
the women aren't happy (not good)

3rd issue
the staff list box
the admin is at the top (good)
but then i have dif staff groups ie senior mod and normal mods
but i want the senior mods at the top
but at the minute they are all mixed up
its not even alphabetical order, they are just on there

hopefully someone can help please

Another issue I found when adding blocks, the left curve image does not appear in the box for whatever theme you are using accept for the default theme. I believe it's the main_block.png in index.css but simple portal does not point to the correct one. Here is the support thread I started on this in themes: http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=409036.0

Answer to self...lol: To fix this, just add portal.css and portal_rtl.css to your themes css folder and portal.js to your themes script folder!

Thanks for sharing this info! This was exactly what I was looking for. I had the exact same problem upon using a dark curve variant theme. Your fix has cured the problem. Thank you again.

This problem (or bug) should be addressed by Simple Portal in a future update.

MyOutdoorsIowa

Greetings,

I'm running SMF RC4 and Simple Portal 2.33 using the Silent Wave theme.
Apache version 2.0.63
PHP version 5.3.2
MySQL version 5.0.91-community

Site: http://myoutdoorsiowa.com/ [nofollow]

No errors reported during install via Package Manager.
Actually I have Simple Portal disabled at the moment due to my issue. The problem is that I'm missing "Display Options" in admin. I'm assuming a file or files did not get to where they needed to be during install?
I only assume this because portal.css, portal_rtl.css and portal.js were missing in my theme/css and theme/scripts also (found that fix in these forums  ;D ) I did have the Silent Wave theme ticked during install.

I've installed this same set up on a different server and did not have this issue.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.
Darrin

Solved. Installed the current language package. Not the old version :)

   Hello

Could someone help me with this theme here - http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?lemma=2286

The above solution worked on other themes but not this one  :( I've even repeated the steps but without success. The forum is ok but all the SP block headers are screwed up.

      Thanks!

Shades.

After repeating the steps did you clear your forum & browser cache?

  Hi There

Yes, it made no difference. Tried multiple browsers as well (chrome, firefox). Could you load up that theme and see if you get the same thing?? Would be appreciated!! BTW, using latest versions of SMF & SP.

   Thanks Again

Shades.

There is something missing in the theme. You should ask the theme author to take a look at it and see if they can help! ;)
