That's because the portal, like other mods, is only applied to the SMF dfault theme.

You have to edit custom themes, manually. That's why none of the images show, too.

thx everything is ok now :)

@Gà Mái,
This portal, just like all other mods is only applied to the SMF core theme. You will have to manually add buttons/tabs for all of your custom themes, I can help you with that if necessary.

Also the feature that you described, with blocks in the forum itself is a part of an unreleased version of SimplePortal 2.1, which we are planning to release within a fairly short period of time.

Thanks for this mod - using it with great success but I'm hitting the usual problem of having to modify custom themes to work with it.

The theme I want to try is Classic Red - I've attached the index.template.php - I'd be very grateful for any help with making the necessary changes on this.

Uhhh.... how can someone do that... a one line menu... very difficult to find the correct position ;).

Okay i hope this will work :).

The only thing you need is a image "sp-forum.gif" so that it work.

Uhm.. Why am I not allowed to create articles that are NOT linked to any topic? =p I find that stupid..

Oh and also; can someone explain how I can make the left blocks visible in the forum, and not just on the index? (I don't want the right blocks to be shown in the forum)

Nathaniel

1) Forum-Independant Articles is a feature that we are looking at adding in a later version.

2) Having blocks in the forum is a feature of the 2.1 version of SimplePortal, it isn't public yet, although it should be made public in the near future.

Aah, great :3 Thanks, I'll keep that in mind and look for updates then.

The Saviour

I just installed this mod to my SMF 1.1.6 forum...and I'm hoping it'll help with an issue I'm experiencing.

Here's the problem:

Every time I install a new mod...depending on the mod...it will install a new tab to the navigation menu.

Is there any way to add a block that will only show the links I want certain users to see...depending on permissions?  If so...I can then remove some of the tabs from my navigation menu...making it a little shorter and cleaner looking for registered members.  The new block will show these links/tabs instead.

I hope I explained it clearly enough.  If not, please reply and I'll try to be a little more specific.

Thank you for a wonderful mod...now all I have to do is learn it. ;D

Nathaniel

You should be able to add a block with links in it, using permissions as well. With the 'PHP' block type, although at the moment you can't use blocks throughout your forum, so you may not get the wanted effect.

@mr703himself,
Proceed with the install and then post your 'ManagePermissions.php' file and I can manually perform that edit for you. ;)

mr703himself

heres the file, what exactly do i have to do for this to showup on a custom theme?

Nathaniel

The file is attached.

You will have to add a 'forum' button for each custom theme (and make the minor alterations for that to work), that is it. ;)

what is the minor alterations? can u take me step by step?

Nathaniel

The actual code which will add the button depends entirely on the theme itself, the edit below is for the default theme, it will probably be different for your custom theme.

Here is a general edit to add the button itself (for the default theme):
Find this code:
    // Show the [help] button.

Replace with this code:
    // Show the [forum] button.
    echo ($current_action=='forum' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '<td class="maintab_active_first"> </td>' : '' , '
                <td valign="top" class="maintab_' , $current_action=='forum' ? 'active_back' : 'back' , '">
                    <a href="', $scripturl, '?action=forum">'.$txt['sp-forum'].'</a>
                </td>' , $current_action=='forum' ? '<td class="maintab_active_last"> </td>' : '';

    // Show the [help] button.

The edits below, will add code so that the correct button is the 'current' or 'highlighted' button at the correct time. If your theme doesn't have any highlighting or changing of color for the current tab, then the edits aren't necessary.

These edits are for the '/themes/{themenames}/index.templates.php'.

Find this code:
, 'login', 'help', 'pm'

Replace with this code:
, 'login', 'help', 'pm', 'forum', 'spadmin'

Find this code:
        $current_action = 'search';

Replace with this code:
        $current_action = 'search';
    if (isset($_GET['board']) || isset($_GET['topic']))
        $current_action = 'forum';
    if ($context['current_action']=='spadmin')
        $current_action = 'admin';

Oh gawd, I have that exact problem, and I don't know how to fix it. I have 6 custom themes, and all have the same problem: They don't have the Forum or Staff buttons, as well as missing all dots and arrows from SP. Can someone please tell me how to fix this problem? =)

EDIT: Also the "My messages" button is missing >:

EDIT2: No wait, that's not true. The "Messages"-button is only missing in the Mercury theme.

The 6 custom themes are:
-Aero79
-Amber
-DarkSilver Equinox
-Mercury
-Mystic Multi
-SMF Gunge
