If you did a full Cpanel backup, there is a good chance you cannot restore it from within the CP itself. I know for me at least, i had to upload the archive to through FTP and have HostGator do the restore for me. They do not charge to do this as long as you can upload it into your Home directory. Who is your host?

You backed up from within SMF, yes?

Always thought it odd that you can't restore from there...

Probably a good reason for it, but...

You have to do it through your site's CPanel, not SMF's.

I think you cannot restore a backup from the admin panel :)

You can use phpmyadmin to restore the backup.

I would imagine as a major security risk. If someone some how gets a hold of your account, they can upload anything that will extract itself all over the entire webserver. Thats just how I look at it though.

Yeah, you might well be right, there.

I just go to CPanel>Backups to both save and restore.

Why bother screwing around with phpmyadmin, just to do that? You can backup the home directory, there, too, so why bother?
