SMF Welcomes Lex as The New Project Manager

The SMF Team has recently held its annual election for the position of Project Manager.

After a number of years in the position Illori has chosen to step down to focus on providing support and Lex, who had been the Support Team lead up until this point, has won the election to become the new Project Manager for SMF.

The Team thanks Illori for all her hard work as Project Manager and welcomes Lex into the position.  Please join us in thanking Illori for all her hard work and congratulating Lex on his successful election.

You could argue that being Project Manager is less wearing that being a Support Bot. After 59,822 "ZOMG why doesn't my forum work" threads Illori may long for the old days.

The PM role is greatly an overseer and arbitrator role - Not so much a director role.

SMF has plans for a 2.1 release in the future, also some smaller projects are ongoing that are dependent on that 2.1.
SMF in itself is a project though, so the greatest plan is to continue I guess :)

Uh, no. Being a member here for ten years you should already know SMF is developed and supported by volunteers working in their free time, which most team members don't have a lot of.

Wow, Aleksi, congrats!!

I think I have been following this forum and using SMF longer during Illori's "reign", so have to thank you :)

I can't even image how much time you have to use for SMF, since only running a couple of forums for me is already a huge volunteer work.
Really appreciate what you do.
