All mods are designed to be installed on the default theme.

Also, if you are installing for a different theme, you may want to change the colors on the button, here is a Fireworks 8 PNG file you can edit.

EDIT: There is not a local button anymore, it is a Digg widget.

Did did somehow rework their submission-form? This doesn't work. Always goes to phase 1, and nothing is prefilled

Off topic, but where did you get the 'Garage' mod?  Our truck club needs something like that   8)

The digg-service does a reverse-lookup on your domain name. My testsite is not in a public DNS, and thus couldn't be reversed. Works on my production site like a charm.

well, this thread is for the completed Digg mod.  SMF Garage is another mod I am currently developing.  It does not have a public release yet, but I see you already signed up at SMFGarage.com, so just stay tuned there for updates.

I'm not using the default theme - isn't there any way to get it to work on other themes? I really want this plugin. Thanks

RRasco

yes, but you will have to figure out where to place the DIV in your theme's display.template.php
Vehicle Management System for SMF - SMFGarage.com

Thanks RRasco, I can probably figure that out after taking a look.

the only thing you need to do (if the install ifself went correctly..) is to change your theme template.

There are ways of course. Just open the mod, have a look at the xml and add the digg-link into whatever theme you are  using. THis is probably the easiest mod to  add manually. I ended  up with a digg button for musiconica that really has nothing in common with this mod after playing around with it. It's just a link, nothing else.

well, im not sure, since i dont use that mod at all.  you are gonna have to figure out what variable holds its value, and i dont know since the SEO mod probably changes that.

how about a 1.1.2 update eh?!?!?!?!?!
If you can't hear it before you see it, then it ain't a harley

RRasco

I'll update it soon enough.  Probably going to add the smaller long digg button they have now, but I am working on a much larger mod right now that I am almost finished with, which currently has priority over this one.

Awesome! Would it be too much hassle for someone to make it compatible for SMF 1.1 RC1?  Our programmer disappeared and if we upgrade, we'd scrap a lot of extra additions.

Have you tried installing it on RC1?
Vehicle Management System for SMF - SMFGarage.com

AtariKid

Yes.

QuoteThe package you are trying to download or install is either corrupt or not compatible with this version of SMF.

SMF 1.1 RC1 | MKP 1.1 Rc1

RRasco

Ah, I see.  That is just because the package says 1.1.1 and not 1.1.  You can open up the package file and change it, or wait for me to update this mod; which may be possibly next week since I should be finishing up my bigger mod this week.

I wouldn't know what to change, so I can wait for your expertise. Thank you RRasco.

According to riderraghav it works on 1.1.3.

glennk

Installed fine on 1.1.3.

Button doesnt really stand out though. I had to search for it and I knew it was there - somewhere. Will the users see it ?

RRasco

I guess that depends the user.  I am planning on updating it with an integrated DIGG button that will keep count of the diggs.  That is in due time though, I'm working on something much bigger right now.
Vehicle Management System for SMF - SMFGarage.com

Actually just realised it doesnt work for me. The button is redirecting back into the topic.

RRasco

What is the URL it is linking to?
Vehicle Management System for SMF - SMFGarage.com

My forum is embedded in joomla. When a user click on digg logo, it gives him the standalone url. How could I make it so it gives him the embeded url ?

RRasco

You would have to look at the code and figure it out.  This gets the URL from SMF so unless Joomla is passing that URL to SMF, it obviously won't get it.  I do not have Joomla and have no experience with it, so I can't advise you on that.
Vehicle Management System for SMF - SMFGarage.com

RRasco

The mod has been updated to use the new integrated Digg button that will track the number of diggs and display them in the button.

I have updated the package again, I found a bug where the subject needed characters to be escaped to work in the js.  Newest package is 2.1.

It's a no go.

It may just be that the package is not setup to install on that version.  Extract the package to a folder, and open up package-info.xml.  In that file, you need to add 1.1 RC1 to the version list.

Replace:
<install for="1.1 RC3, 1.1, 1.1.0-1.1.99">
<readme>ReadMe.txt</readme>
<modification type="file">digg-topic.xml</modification>
</install>

<uninstall for="1.1 RC3,1.1, 1.1.0-1.1.99">
<modification type="file" reverse="true">digg-topic.xml</modification>
</uninstall>

With:
<install for="1.1 RC1, 1.1 RC3, 1.1, 1.1.0-1.1.99">
<readme>ReadMe.txt</readme>
<modification type="file">digg-topic.xml</modification>
</install>

<uninstall for="1.1 RC1, 1.1 RC3,1.1, 1.1.0-1.1.99">
<modification type="file" reverse="true">digg-topic.xml</modification>
</uninstall>

Then re-package the files and you should be set to go.  Well, it will at least run the test to tell you if it will work or not, but if the version doesn't match your current version it won't even run the test, it will just tell you it is a corrupt package or an incompatible version.
