I know some of them are too long, so what you can do is make all the buttons above the size of the largest word (announcements) so if announcements is 100px long, make them all 100px long...

Its easy to make, in photoshop
Ctrl - Alt - Shift  on the selection without text, then move the cursor on the left...
You will have a beautiful button without text ^^

I find this whole thread a mystery quite suitable for Christmas :)

Lots of posts saying 'here are your buttons' and all with due 'thanks ' - but most have no buttons. I've gone thru these 4 pages repeatedly and most of the buttons aren't there. May I suppose they've been taken off babylonking's server?

Then there's the buttonmaker... makes buttons ok and I thank the member for that. But the buttons I''ve made (using a wide variety of options) look terrible. The original default buttons (which I' use) have smf font text that is extremely clear. Also small, leaving space around the text, which stands proud against the background. The maker produces fuzzy text the wrong size, making them look most inferior in comparison.

I want a button to take users to the coppermine module. 'GALLERY', 'IMAGES', 'PHOTOS' or 'ALBUMS' would do fine. But I seem to be the only one who's ever thought of having such a button, cos nobody has asked here, and no icon image is available in the button maker. I find that curious.

So I've made a blank button and added an icon. Looks gr8. Now I have to add the smf-font text. Where that comes from, I've no idea. Now, making buttons is a sinch. Getting the right font is not so easy. So, instead of endless requests for buttons, why not have here the smf font. We could add it to our own fonts, or cut and paste letters into the button. Maybe the font *is* available and I'm the only sucker who doesn't know this...

Anyhow: a merry christmas to y'all and don't forget the hair of the dog in the morning ;)

font is avaulable search and you will find its freely available fromg good its something like 4b_08 do a search and its there, andrea says it nearly every week.

maybe I am missing something... but is there a default button or something so that I can create my own custom buttons... but yet have the same look as the default?

I gotta get more sleep or something.. I have been searching on this for about 30 min...

I've made a few adjustments to the default buttons :

- changed the font size to the same size as is use here
- added a drop shadow to the font, so it looks pretty much like the ones used here

Ok I must be missing something?

Ive done a search of SMF and find buttons all over, but not how to intergrate them on the menu bar.
I have a theme ( 7dana) which I can install mods and they verify working but I apprently need to manually put the button on the bar point to the file.  But how does one modify the menu bar to add buttons?
I want to add the donation button and the arcade button
which I think installed in default.

Is there a tutorial I missed ?

I don't know if I am the only one having this problem but I cannot dl the buttons from the first post at all. Even when I try to copy/paste or save image as I have problems.

Only way I could get this to work is to copy them into the clipboard then paste into photoshop.

Babylon, I have the Visual Warning/Post Moderation mod installed on my forum and it created a Warn button.  I wonder if you'd be able to make a Warn button in the xSilver set for me to use?

The button generator is cool. But, I can't seem to make any decent buttons with it. Whenever I fill in a value for the 'space between icon and text' it puts the space on the left side of the button and then it looks really weird, as it's not between the icon and the text.

The standard buttons that come with the forum software seem to all be a standard (the same) size as well, but I can't reproduce that with your button generator.

Is there a way to do any of this? I've been trying to make a 'PMs', button like the standard menu buttons and 'Time & Date' and 'Search' title buttons (like the 'Key Stats', 'News Box', etc. buttons). Since I'm definitely not a graphics type of person, I'd very much appreciate any help.

namely for my vWarn mod (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=49204.0), the text link doesn't exactly improve the looks, and the button generator doesn't have any icon which is not in use by reply/modify/quote/delete button :(

I can't make a button using your button generator to be the same width while having the text centered, which would be really nice to do. They are in the first set. I used the size from the initial release.

They are (weren't) the same size (height), so look in the other sets if you can't find them.
When you use space before and after the text you can make the buttons the same lenght.  It would be easier if I made it a certain lenght, but this way you are free in choosing the lenght you want.

sorry 'bout that manic fit... forgot to take my meds this morning

Something is not right with the button generator as the text looks weird.

Say I put in 'Test' and the SMF_(USE CAPS) font (the other fonts seem to be too small/squased or don't look like the default buttons enough) the button says: T[pacman monster like symbol]OX.
Actually, this is okay if I put 'TEST' which is maybe what I should of done a long time ago.


The other thing I wanted to say is, it would be good to edit the first post of this thread to add all the buttons made since, people may come here and be looking for a similar thing.

Thanks for the clarification, but I can't see an option to put any space on the left side of the text. The only option for spacing I see is "space between icon and text " which adds space to the right of the text only.
