Very nice work, Eren! :)
Not sure why you've got lines like '<div id="bodyarea_top"><div></div></div>' (which I've spotted in the source of every page I've tried, but presume must sometimes be filled out?), and you might want to correct 'accesibility' to 'accessibility' (on your board as well as here), but it's a cracking example of clear, structural markup styled the way it should be. (So let's hope it also proves an inspiration to others!)
Its a beauty.
is ur theme a paid 1 i cant find where to download it at Tp. i went here at http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=17832.0. from where to download............. i mean where to click so that i can download it. :(
Vey nice, Eren! Well done! :D
Sorry for being so picky. Just did not know "table less" means just the index.template.php needs to be without tables.
Anyway, well done theme!
Congats Forsakenlad for this new wonderful theme! I'm using it on one of my forums: http://forum.familial.ro and I have to report some issues:
1. I've activated recent messages list on front page. In Firefox (2.0.0.6) the first message line is shifted to the right entirely and at the bottom you can notice a scroll bar. When you scroll orizontaly the first message/post is revealed as you can see in the first twoo attached screenshots (firefox1 & firefox2)
2. In IE7 anly the bullet of the first message/post in list is right shifted. The black footer is also screwed.
Can you correct these errors please? Thank you in advance..
PS
Huh, it seems I can't attach images. Please visit my forum with Firefox and IE7 to see the rendering issues.
I'd like to thank you for all of your comments.

Its not only index.template.php. Also tableless isn't a correct term, tables must be used where necessarry, actually where tabular data is present like the messageindex. I think you should examine the template more throughly before jumping to quick decisions.

Well they are needed for the top and the bottom parts of the bodyarea. I know they don't look nice but there was no other way to create those effects without screwing up the liquid layout. And thanks for the comment Peter, I'll correct those grammar mistakes.

if u like then please reply. i am waiting for ur reply. :)
first of all i never knew u were in smf i have seen so many of ur html templates/css also. i know only html and have no knowledge of php after trial and error i was able to put these additions in ur template.
I have uploaded the version 1.02 of the theme which has all the bugs addressed in this topic fixed. I highly advise that you do this upgrade.

Hey falguni1, It looks really nice but seems a little messy on Firefox and IE7. Let me know if you need any help with it. :)
Well done!!! This is a great step for SMF :)
Thanks for the comment Tony, I'm converting the other templates too. I'm hoping to create a complete revision of the templates soon.
Thanks for this beautiful theme forsakenlad :).
I use the version 1.03 but I have a bug with Firefox (not with IE) that you can see here (http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/4027/sanstitre1qm9.jpg), a scroll bar appear when I click on "Show unread posts since last visit." and "Show new replies to your posts." How to fix this issue ?
Thanks in advance ;).
This is rather a small issue. Please open up style.css in your theme folder (alak) and search for this:
#loggedin
{
width: 40%;
float: right;
text-align: right;
list-style-type: none;
font-size: 110%;
color: #EEE;
height: 69px;
margin-top: 14px;
overflow: auto;
}
and replace it like this:
#loggedin
{
width: 40%;
float: right;
text-align: right;
list-style-type: none;
font-size: 110%;
color: #EEE;
height: 69px;
margin-top: 14px;
}
Thanks :).

Hey falguni1, It looks really nice but seems a little messy on Firefox and IE7. Let me know if you need any help with it. :)
WOW thanks for the reply. and yes i need help.
First this is a highly professional theme which costs too much when you buy it that you have given for free. so first I would like to thank you for the beauty of this professional template and for giving it to all the users of the SMF forum.
Though I like forums the problem with them is that when you want to go back to topics/boards you have to hit back arrow of the browser. for seeing different topics you just click and click. I get too tired of this all And all I do is close the window and off the computer. hehe :'(
so I was wondering If the boards are in sight of the user he just needs to look at his left to choose the board he wants to go to instead of using the back arrow. and the topics too related/under the board he chooses are in his view.
the demo site I am using is http://omsites.com/7777
You know its 3 column
if It has something like this like
left column posts/replies which will display the posts and replies under the topic which the user has selected when he clicked on the topic in the middle column | middle column topics which will display the topics which are under the board which the user selects when he clicks on the board in the right column and leave some empty space to insert html/javascript here | right last column boards/child boards boards where the user can click to select the board he wants to go to. and leave some empty space to insert html/javascript here |
the best thing about this idea is that it saves the user for the irritating do going back and searching all the user has to do is look left and select :P
the whole point is easy navigation and this makes the user stay on the site longer as the whole site looks filled up and as the related topics are in site. It may look like a mixtue of a website and blog and forum but thats good.
Well if you feel that what I said looks pointless please let me know.
Now this is another topic other than SMF............................... :P
I have downloaded your template too many times I dont know the name of the template. It has a purple flower and it has a frame on the left though I didnt use it as I am Using now SMF I never knew I would get a chance to talk to you so I say It a beautiful template. I saw it when I searched for HTML templates In google.
Well the thing you are asking for is not that easy to implement. I'll work on it and attach the files when I finish it.
this is one of the best themes i ever have seen for SMF
but i have some problem in Firefox v1.5x, didn't try n firefox v2.x
(http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/4427/08022007105112tz8.jpg)
please fix this. i can't see MENU TABS
really
yahoooooooooooooooooooooooo :D :P
yaa it is difficult but i see this wordpress themes and this site and i find it really stunning http://www.free-css-templates.com/
a 3 column layout with all written stuff on the left column and all links and small banners and all attractive stuff in the middle and the right column.
SMF needed a really competitive professional theme which you get after you spend some 75 to 120$ then to no guarantee that its going to look stunning. hehe take a look at these paid themes, all they have done is just change the colours and put some graphics on the top or the side bars http://www.free-css-templates.com/search.php?category=64
Alak is so beautiful than these all now wot more can we ask for.
Why don't SMF ppl consider this theme as basic theme with 2.0, which can give tough competition to any software!! All ppl who are talking about SMF graphics can keep thier mouth shut
Great job ;)
Thanks
yaa I agree this theme is a highly detailed, polished, professional work.

Congrats for this lovely theme!!! Very well done!
I'm using the version 1.03. I'd like to report few things...
1. When I login and then click on 'Show unread posts since last visit' or 'Show new replies to your post', a horizontal scrollbar appears till the link has the focus. Thats annoying. Please adjust the width.
2. When I view members list in Admin->Members, the header row (ID,Display name, Email, IP, Last online, posts) is a bit congested according to me... Please increase the cellpadding.
3. The signature sticks to the text in the post... It would be better if it is bottom-aligned. Also when viewing a topic, the cellpadding needs to be increased, the Member pane and the Post pane just stick so close.
Thanks.

Could you try removing your logo completely and letting me know?
When I remove my logo, everything turns right. But I wanted to use my logo instead of the name.
TY for your help.
No you normally should, I have tried with my logo on and everything seems allright, are you sure that your width or height aren't too high? Because when I looked at your site, it was big enough to cause overlapping.

please ignore the scattered text as that is not the point i want to make as it is a test site. http://omsites.com/7777/
i make to bring to the notice of u guys is the 2 right side columns filled with content which can have many things like links and all the fancy widgets u see in other sites example http://www.free-css-templates.com/css-techniques/
please look at the columns not the scattered text.
i want to request eren to introduce 2 columns on the right side in the template so we can input all the thinge we always wanted.
its an example to show how the template with 2 right columns will look like. so please consider my point of 2 columns and ignore the scattered text. its a test site.
my real site is www.omsites.com and it is very beautiful i believe.
hey all reading this dont u all feel that there should be 2 coulmn on the right side which can be filled with boards links, latest comments, latest articles, sponsered links, whos online, paypal button, shoutbox, adsense, banners, some fancy widgets available on the net.
wot u all reading think let me know on this thread

Check the first post, the modified files are attached. Though I didn't do most of the display.template.php changes due to those being written really poorly on the mod itself.

Hi! First I want to say that this theme is AWESOME- it is flat out the best theme on this site. Great job!!
My question: I'm not seeing the icons/buttons associated with "reply", "mark unread", etc...am I missing something? On my mac I just get question marks and on my pc I get a little box with a red X. Did I miss a file when I was downloading?
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
ya its the problem to me too
i can't see the buttons either
Thanks for this great theme. :)
I'm also having the same issue displaying a forum logo. Any image pushes the menu items down - even with a tiny 20x20 image!!

Hi!
Ok, here is where I'm using the theme:
http://www.teamwinchester.com/forum/index.php
Ignore the black header area...I just did that to get around the whole logo-pushing-down-the-page thing...
Under the Help menu, where it gives the sort of screen shots of the boards, there are missing graphics...there are also missing graphics in your Inbox where it should say "reply" "delete" etc. Am I doing something wrong?
THANK YOU!!
As I've said I'll correct them on the next release :)
Oh! Ok! Thanks!! I thought I had read through the other posts and didn't see this issue addressed, but I'm probably just being a spaz. :) When are you anticipating the new release will be?
I don't know, in a few days probably as I get more time for testing it out.
when is the bloggy theme going to release
I've submitted it a few days ago, waiting for approval.
@eren, still waiting for modified files for thank-o-matic mod. It's been over 10days m requesting, please :(
First of all let me say, what a wonderful theme this is, brilliant! thanks eren for your work.
Second of all, i am currently using this theme and have put my logo up, it seemed like it wouldn't, but i just tweaked the style.css and the size of topbg.gif and it works brilliantly, unless you resize the window. please could someone help me.

It'll be fixed on the next update

This is a fantastic template - well done on such an excellent creation. I installed this in minutes and it fits perfectly with our football club message board site. If you want to take a look to see it in action then it is here;
http://www.wittonalbion.co.uk/Boardroom/index.php
We are a small football club in North West England, but for a small club we have an active forum. We play in Red so don't even have to change the colour scheme!
I have a few questions to you but also to anyone else in the forum I am sorry if I am repeating anything and also that I am very new to SMF;
1; Previous and Next Links; are these not embedded into your template or have I missed something. I have the function selected in the topics settings. Is this something that you plan to add or is there any easy way anyway can explain this to me?
2; Logo; I also tried to add the logo and it pushed the nav and log-in out of line. I am guessing this is a reasonably easy fix but I don't know enough about how to do it?
3; Nav Menu; Is there any easy way to add further links into this menu. For example I would like to add a link back from the forum to the main website home page? May also want to add a further one or two links in this nav menu?
4; Disappearing Heading; The first board in our list is called First Team, when you click into a post and then hit the back button this first heading disappears, all the other ones are there. I have checked that it is nothing to do with the collapse settings. It is strange, if you refresh the page it will reappear but it is not there if you hit the back button. I am using IE7 so maybe it is a browser issue.
Any replies to the above would be very gratefully received - rushing to finish our web site before the new football season starts at the weekend, your template was found just in time.
Amazing work at an incredibly high standard. Thanks for the many hours you have saved me and for making our site look so much better.

Further update; the missing first board heading when hitting the back button appears to be an issue in IE only, tried it now in FF and it works fine (as usual FF being less quirky).
Thanks again

My question: I'm not seeing the icons/buttons associated with "reply", "mark unread", etc...am I missing something? On my mac I just get question marks and on my pc I get a little box with a red X. Did I miss a file when I was downloading?
I had this same issue and worked out it was incorrect paths to the pictures, in other words the pictures are not in the location where they are supposed to be. This can be fixed easily as the pictures/images/buttons do exist. Fro memory I think the pics were in folders called images and buttons but in the path they were being looked for in the english folder. All I did was find the file name, make a copy of it and put it in the folder the path was pointing to. I made a copy rather than moved it in case another part of the template was looking for it in the other place. Does that make sense?

THANK YOU!! That solved most of it. It still isn't finding a few of the images, but the problem seems to only be under the Help section now...all the important images are now linked correctly. Where does it say where it's pointing?
No probs, simplest way is to right click (assuming pc and not mac) and look at the properties of the image, then see if the image is in the directory where is it looking. If not find the image in another folder and copy it into the directory where it is looking - easier than trying to change the path in any of the scripts!
U are genius eren no need of wordpress or any other blog software u changed the whole look of SMF with bloggy. now I dont have words to say. Its like u gave new dimensions, possibilities.
I love your themes I have 1 request Please consider making 1 natural theme.
many of your themes are all sophisticated and have everything so also make 1 with natural elements like
I am now using corto if u go to the footer u can see freen grass there looks lovely
www.omsites.com/omsaigan
see u soon with some theme which has fresh greenery and lovely flowers and cool ponds of water, not animated but the original real pics taken from nature. just put them in header and footer and then the nature lovers will be happy. hehe.
Thanks for the compliments falguni1, I apperciate them. Actually I was looking for some ideas for new themes, I guess I will be able to work on something like you've described.

First off, love your theme. Great job.
I'm using SMF 1.1.3 and Alak 1.03. Here's the issue. I'm logged in. If I go to the Info Center and click "View the most recent posts on the forum.", on the page that it brings up I'm missing -
alak-1/images/english/reply_sm.gif
alak-1/images/english/quote.gif
alak-1/images/english/notify_sm.gif
alak-1/images/english/delete.gif
I'm not sure about other missing gifs, but I took the all the images that were in the classic/images/english folder dumped them into alak-1 for now.
Hello, I love your theme but I'm not quite sure how to add additional links.
I have
// The [staff list] button
echo '<li><a class="staff' , $current_action == 'staff' ? ' active' : '', '" href="', $scripturl, '?action=staff">' , $txt['smfstaff_stafflist'], '</a></li>';
This links me to the staff page correctly however the bar under the link does not change color, it stays on home. I'm not sure if a class="staff" is correct (prob not) so I'm wondering if you can provide additional instructions on how you constructed the link. Thanks.
Great theme. Nothing else describes it!
Some comments;
Does the theme ignore the setting of enabling the Calendar or am I missing something? I have had to comment out the lines to show the Calendar in the top menu.
Has anyone created a visually stronger division between each board on the main board list? To me it appears to blend too much between the board icon and the following board.
Lastly, do you have plans to upgrade the theme for SMF 2.0 when released?
Impressive theme and thank you for your contribution to the SMF forum.
Nice theme, :D
just a few questions. Will the ad mod work with this theme.
AND
Can I add a logo or image were the text now resides. Thanks awesome theme, I am going to use it once I add a few images.
I just installed this theme on a brand new SMF install, and after creating categories and boards, and membergroups, and changing a few settings, the forum error log ran to over 20 pages of errors, most of which read as follows:
---------------
2: Wrong parameter count for str_replace()
File: /home/xxxxx/public_html/xxxxxxx.com/forum/Themes/default/Admin.template.php (eval?)
Line: 132
---------------
8: Undefined index: forum_meta
File: /home/xxxxx/public_html/xxxxxxxx.com/forum/Themes/default/Admin.template.php (eval?)
Line: 70
---------------
I tried using Forum Maintenance to find and fix errors (none found), and "Recount all forum totals and statistics" resulted in an endless loop and many more pages of the above error messages.
In fact any action I take on this forum results in many more of these same error messages in the error log.
I sure would appreciate some help to solve this.
Now I have 85 pages of the above error messages, and all I've done so far is finish setting up the various categories and boards, post two messages, and register the first three or four members.
Everyone loves the look of the theme, but what is it with the glut of error messages?
Well I've been playing around with this theme a bit to try and figure out what is the problem.
I forgot to mention above that I do not have a "Members" link in the navigation area.
I switched the forum back to the default SMF theme and cleared the error log and used it for a while. No errors were generated during that time.
Then I re-uploaded and re-installed Alak, in case something got corrupted on the way in, and switched the forum back to the Alak theme.
Within an hour, the error log had many pages of the same error messages pasted in my earlier post. I guess this means the problem is theme-related.
I don't have the brains to figure out how to fix this, and haven't found any other help. Hoping someone knows something here....
Oh I figured it out, oh I'm so stupid.
Hello,
Im getting this error lately...when I use the theme on board
<meta name="keywords" content="PHP, MySQL, smf, simple, machines, forum, 8: Undefined index: forum_meta
File: /home/forum/public_html/info/Themes/alak-1/languages/Settings.english.php (main_above sub template - eval?)
Line: 70
Pl Help
Hai,
Please reply, I get many errors saying
8: Undefined index: forum_meta
2: Wrong parameter count for str_replace()
Eern,
I notice that there is 1 pixel error with the quick search box when viewed with IE6. Do you have a solution?
Edit: IE6, not 7. I've not tried it with IE7.
I'm not sure why you decided to go with dt tags for the board titles. It would make more sense, in my opinion, to use h tags. You seem to have done something similar with the thread view on the individual board indexes, with td tags.
Of course data is best handled using a table, but I don't subscribe to boards and thread titles as data best displayed as a table. They are more lists in my view, and if h tags could be attached to these titles it would make more sense. Think of it like this: do we view the thread titles comparring the post titles against post stats and the last poster; or, do we simply scan the titles as a list for what we have not yet read? It is a list, isn't it!?
I think your themes are great, and your efforts are laudable, but I think you have failed to take this to it's ultimate conclusion. I suppose this comes down to whether or not we consider these indexes to be lists or tables though.
I tried installing this theme, but it didn't work. It seems like the ZIP file on the theme site is corrupted, and some of the files didn't extract (CRC error).
Can a working version be found somewhere else, or can *eren please update the ZIP file?
Hi,
Open the theme locally, download these three files and replace the three corrupted files in your unzipped Alak theme:
http://www.benzobuddies.org/alak-replacement-images/help.gif (http://www.benzobuddies.org/alak-replacement-images/help.gif)
http://www.benzobuddies.org/alak-replacement-images/Thumbs.db (http://www.benzobuddies.org/alak-replacement-images/Thumbs.db)
http://www.benzobuddies.org/alak-replacement-images/my_veryhot_poll_locked_sticky.gif (http://www.benzobuddies.org/alak-replacement-images/my_veryhot_poll_locked_sticky.gif)
This text file will explain where the replacement files should be located in your local copy of the theme:
http://www.benzobuddies.org/alak-replacement-images/alak-file-locations.txt (http://www.benzobuddies.org/alak-replacement-images/alak-file-locations.txt)
You now can re-zip the theme and upload it, or failing this, upload the unzipped files to your server.
As a note, I don't think any of these files are necessary for the Alak theme.
Hi
Theme problem on 1680x1050 monitors.
(http://c-sub.com/Image1.png)
The theme has been updated (for 1.1.5) and most of the bugs that have been addressed are corrected. Please update.
I have to say, I love the theme. I have one request though.
For the current then, I'm trying to remove the website integration on the top banner. Like for example if it was this site, it would show simplemachines.org on the left of the banner. On my site, it's showing my website.
I've tried to uncheck the setting with the logo in acp, but to no avail, it just seems to make the text a lot smaller. How can I go about removing it, or how can I add a picture logo on top of it? Thankyou.
Additionally, since it doesn't use tables, how do I go about making modifications that use td and tr tags?
It doesn't make the text smaller but you're seeing the alternative text for the işamge probably because you are entering the image url wrong.
How can I completely remove it? I don't want it there at all.
Also,

Well if you type the image url right the text wll not be shown. And for your other question, it being tableless doesn't prevent any mod using tables inside.

Well, that's the thing. I don't want it there at all. I can insert a picture, but the type of image I want shown is showing up improperly; not the way I would like it.
I don't get what exactly do you want there gone.
Nice looking theme! However, i do have a few questions...
1. Whenever i put in a logo.. (current size 100 x 100) it moves the menu down. See image below. I tried fooling with the css.. but ended up getting a repeating gradient...so i decided to stop.. Any way i could fix this? Ultimately, i would like the logo to be the size it is now... but not pushing the menu down any. (Is there a padding issue somewhere?)
http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/2491/hmmhg7.gif
2. Shoutbox. Could a shoutbox be put into this theme? I can't remember exactly WHICH shoutbox i have installed currently... but i was just wondering if this theme would allow one.
Thanks for your help!
Really cool .It's amazin,man.
I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me out.
I moved the news below the forum logo to incorporate the logo better. However on Firefox it's all fine, but on IE it seems to be leaving a space between them
(http://www.thefraternityclub.com/images/IEerror.JPG)
Can you help me out? Much appreciated. love this theme though.
*edit - fixed it now by just editing the background image, would've liked to move it but the background image thing works as long as people don't choose stupidly high resolutions on big monitors.
hi,
I couldnt get work Quick Reply mod with this theme.
If anybody know how I can do that please tell me.

This theme has specific CSS files to account for IE inconsistencies. The default CSS is usually used, but is overridden by the IE6 and IE7 CSS where appropriate. Just adjust the position of the news block in the applicable CSS files. ;)
Great job on the theme, i was wondering if i can the news header in the upper left to the center of the main page.
Help would be really nice.
Could you please be more detailed? An illustration would be great.
Hey forsakenlad,
Great theme .. how can I move the main nav menu to the bottom of the header. See the site I have at www.asroma-fans-forum.com to see what i'm talking about.
And how can I move the login box up.
Hi Dannyd,
Go to your admin area, and edit the alak style.css file.
Find:
#topnav
{
clear: both;
list-style-type: none;
width: 100%;
text-align: center;
font-size: 120%;
}
and add:
position: absolute;
top: 200px; (adjust this figure to a suitable value)
so that you have:
#topnav
{
position: absolute;
top: 200px;
clear: both;
list-style-type: none;
width: 100%;
text-align: center;
font-size: 120%;
}
Thanks that worked great!
One more question how about the login box if I want to move it up a bit ?
Hi,
This is kind of bizarre but I can't add a subject when I'm posting. Any idea what this could be ?
Weird, do you have any mods installed? My theme does not modify the Post.template
It ended up being a CSS issue... duh!
Not sure how to do this. But I want to add a box that has a video player 320x240 next to my recent posts on the first page. How would I do that.
Please, can someone explain me how to put logo in header like on this forum >> http://www.teamwinchester.com/forum/index.php , above everything?
thnx a lot
Hi Foresakenlad,
I long ago spotted this great theme, fixed some small bugs, but never got around to actually using it. I'm now looking at this theme again and sorting out any small bugs.
I've noticed that there is no option to 'reply to all' in PMs. I first assumed that the necessary code was missing from PersonalMessage.template.php, but the Alek theme, of course, does not have this template. I am stumped as to why 'reply to all' does not appear in your theme when it is the default PersonalMessage.template.php file that is being used. Do you have any ideas why this might be so?
Again, great theme.
Thanks.
Edit: I've just noticed that Forsakenlad has not logged in for a month - anyone else know the cause of this bug?
Thanks.
Hi Forsakenlad,
Can you help me with the problem I outlined in the above post? Yesterday, I started a topic about this on the coding discussion board, if you prefer to answer there (it provides a little more detail and what I have tried to resolve the problem: http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=352472.0 (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=352472.0)
SMF: 1.1.11
Thanks.
I'm kind of busy ATM, I'll get to it.
Thanks.
Hi Foresakenlad,
PM popups do not work either. ;)
Thanks.
