Features:- With this MOD links in messages will be checked automatically and you can see if there valid
- If a member open a topic, the MOD will search all filehost links in the messages page's.
- Links founds are checked and recorded in a log to expedite revisions in the future (eg, the next time a member returns to this topic).
- You can set the time for expired this log, according to the last check links to the message. eg, each 2 days (can be 0, recommend min 1). Even will avoid load, if isn't necessary.
- Messages without links fileshost's, will be marked and will not be rechecked again.
- If links dead are found, will be send a PM to post author (and the Moderator Local).
- Currently support the next filehost: rapidshare.com, megaupload, megarotic, megaporn, sexuploader, filefactory.
- You can enable and disable the filehost to check in:
Admin > Posts and Topics > Posts Settings
- Also you can enable/disable this MOD and more settings
- Compatible with Anonymize Links (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=894) and with links masked (eg: hp://, h p://, hxxp://, h..p://, h__p://, h??p://, h**p://, h++p://, h--p://)
- Compatible with QuickModify

Características:- Con este MOD los links en los mensajes serán revisados automáticamente para comprobar si aún siguen siendo válidos
- Cuando un usuario entra a un tema, el MOD buscará links (de filehosts) en los mensajes de la página.
- Los links encontrados son revisados y registrados en un log para agilizar las revisiones en el futuro (ej, la próxima vez que un usuario vuelva a ese tema).
- Puedes fijar el tiempo en que expirará este log según la última revisión que tuvo el mensaje. Ejemplo, cada 2 dias.
- Los mensajes sin links de fileshost, son marcados, así no son revisados en el futuro. Incluso el MOD evitará cargar si no es necesario
- Si se encuentran links muertos, se enviará un PM al autor del mensaje (y al Moderador Local).
- Actualmente es compatible con estos filehosts: rapidshare.com, megaupload, megarotic, megaporn, sexuploader, filefactory.

thanks again for the mod and sorry for bothering but I have a problem here(not about the mod, it's working fine) and dunno if you can help me with it. It's that I have a code, in the css file, that puts a background on links(to show a little pic at the right side of certain links) and as your mod does the same one of both can't be shown as a link can't have 2 background simultaneous. I just wanted to know if you know a way to add the gifs(dead_link,live_link) without using this link background css code, maybe some place in your code where to load the gif with a normal html img tag or something, not sure, I was trying to find some place to try to do it but no luck. cheers

There's a bug... the link checker is not checking megaupload links when the link have /es/ or /it/ or whatever in the middle of the url.
so, here's how to fix it:

I was wondering if there would be anyway to have threads that have a dead link found be automatically moved to another board? In my case we have a Graveyard board exclusively for dead links.
It means that users wont find "dead' threads when they search and if the poster wants to edit the links the topic is stored indefinitely somewhere.
Perhaps a small code change I can make somewhere? If anyone can help me out it would be very much appreciated.

After, you should edit AutoLinkChecker-Subs.php,
Search:

You only should edit your style.css, and edit the rules
.link_dead, .link_live; and mix or remove properties as you want.

If someone wants to do the "addon" or the trick, good.
I don't, because I have no time, because it may be inconvenient, and because it is more work for me and for the people of the forum.
I like the automated methods, but not 100% automatic.
The functionality of the PM to the moderator and the author of the post, fulfills the role of human supervision, and they can decide what to do with the topic.
If all messages are sent to another board, should found there. And if are revives, should move back to the source board, which has been (may be a problem in a big forum).

About others Fileshosts:It is possible, but I don't think it is a good idea to do so.
The MOD is fast, even has a cache to avoid remote checks; and even will avoids load, if messages that have been discarded because they have no links.
But there is a process that inevitably require load time.
To check the links requires to remote checks. This consumes time.
Fortunately rapidshare, megaupload and filefactory has an checktools, and, is possible checks many links at once.
For example, they can make the test, and look the time it takes to create the page.
100 links rapidshare's approx 0.4s (~ 0.3s in remote check)
100 links filefactory's approx 0.45s (~ 0.35s in remote check)
100 links megaupload's link approx 4.5s (~ 4.3s in remote check)
There is a small difference between rapidshare and filefactory, due to the responsiveness of each host.
With megaupload there is a big difference because it only allows checks 10 links at a time, then the MOD should do 10 remote query.
Now imagine without a tool/API, would be necessary to review every link. If there are 100 links, the charging time of the page would be an exaggeration. No one likes a forum with the page loading for over 40seconds.
AFAIK, others filehosts have no linkchecker tool, then will be necessary check the links individually. 100 links, 100 remote check >:(

Is it possible for us to be able to substitute one or more of the host sites ***.com that you have listed with one or more of our own within the code for our specific needs?
I have linked to many files on my website over the years but may have moved the files at some point. It would be helpful if I could use this mod to check these links in the various posts.
If this is possible can you suggest where in the code I should change or would I just have to experiment?

It seemed to have installed properly but when I tried to post a bad link, the bad link showed up as is (as if there is no mod installed.)...ie - the mod does not appear to be working.

Tambien da falsos negativos (aparecen como negaticos esos links pero quizas si funcionan) con los temas ya indexados (se podria decir? :P ).. si se cambia lo de recheckear a 0 funciona bien (en los temas en los que si checkea)... pregunta: si se pone en 0, vacia los logs de temas ya visitados?? si es asi se podria poner en cero y luego volver a 2... o simplemente vaciar esa tabla...
Pero no entiendo porque en algunos temas si los analisay otros no. Solo pasa con los links de megaupload con /es/... los de megaupload normales, rapidshare y filefactory si lo analisa siempre...
EDIT: En aquellos temas en los que noe sta chequeando el link porq tiene /es/ entre medio... si edito y guardo asi como esta el tema, si lo chequea.. :o

Well, there is not such a code like "DROP COLUMN IF EXISTS" (not that I know of), so if it doesn't exist u'll get that error (it's normal, nothing to worry about).
So if u try to import the tables now, u should not have any problem.

It means that u don't delete the 'checker_time' column before to import the add column code,
this means u tried to import the add column code two times (the second time u get that error).
Whatever, it doesn't matter coz If u get "duplicate error" it means u already have the table/column in ur database.
So try to import the next part of the code (the next table)...

I have only rapidshare at the moment, if I understand max. is 100 for rapidshare per msg?
So I have to make at least 30 msg from the present 8?

With megaupload it's only checking 10 links at a time, but obviously if u have more than 10 links all will be checked. So I assume the link checker can check any amount of links by topic.
Someone asked if the mod can check more than 100 links at a time, and the answer is no, but that doesn't means it can check only 100 links (I guess), it'll check 100 by request. So if it have to check 200 links, it will make two requests (or remote query).

Because rapidshare and filefactory only allow to check 100 links (megaupload 10) at a time. So the mod will check 100 links... then other 100 links (in case u've more than 100 links)... and so on...

Actually, if u open the AutoLinkChecker-Subs.php and replace:
fatal_lang_error('auto_link_checker_error', false);with:

Is it possible for us to be able to substitute one or more of the host sites ***.com that you have listed with one or more of our own within the code for our specific needs?
I have linked to many files on my website over the years but may have moved the files at some point. It would be helpful if I could use this mod to check these links in the various posts.
If this is possible can you suggest where in the code I should change or would I just have to experiment?

To add a site, you must study this site and make some adjustments in the code, ie, there is no magic formula for adding other filehosts.

Lo que ocurre es que cuando el mensaje fue chequeado esos links eran "invisibles" para el MOD. En el log solo fueron guardados como vivos los links encontrados y revisados como vivos.
Luego del cambio, los links que antes no se veían ahora se ven, pero como "no están vivos", entonces "están muertos"
Siempre que modificas un mensaje se re-revisa (ignorando el log; porque ahora puede haber algo nuevo). Por eso luego de modificar se corrige y ahora sí se ven bien los links de megaupload con /es/, etc.

Todo MOD implica una carga nueva. En este caso, la mayor carga está en la consulta remota.

IMPORTANT QUESTION: How much it increases the weight on server?
Any MOD = new weight for the server. In this case, the greatest weight is in the remote check.
For this reason, I have included a log to avoid this burden that every time someone visits the topic (or with time as cronjob), but, whenever necessary and if the time log's have expired (*).
For this reason I don't plan on adding another filehost if not having an API/tools, because checks link by link is an enormous burden, that slow loading the page until more than a minute.
I have also designed the MOD to detect and mark the messages that not have links, and if the topic page have 100% messages marked as without links, the MOD will be not load.
(*) The log should have a time life relative, such as 1, 2 or 3 days. I don't recommend 0 because then always will be checks, and I don't recommend 90 days because the links are dying from day to day.

If you have done the change in the 100 max links, read the next reply. These change cause errors.

Yes, is possible check 200, 300, 1000 links rapidshare's/filefactory's; and I can do two, three or ten remote checks,
BUT with megablahblah will be
x10. Then if have posted 1000 links megaupload's, will be
¡¡100!! remote checks, and the page will load many minutes or fails for timeout.
Then I have set a reasonable standard of 100 links, for all filehost currently supported. Lite and enough for most uses.

Deleted table/colum, modified msgs (only 100 links (except megaupload) max. per total msg/topic, so splitting topic with replies or just copy and paste in new topics.

I noticed something strange, Posts with over 100 links showing as dead links, well, I edit the post (add a space to the end) and the links now have correcrt status, I dont know if this is relevant but it seems to be helping something ???

Delete the table

Buenas, pensaba modificar un poco el mod para que solo le mande los MP a un grupo "checkeadores de link", solo a ese grupo.
Queria hacer la consulta algo asi, pero hasta ahi llego y me trabo.:

WHERE ID_GROUP = 9",_FILE_,_LINE_);
$bccb = array();
mysql_free_result($sql);
donde 9 seria el id del grupo nuevo que cree...
y despues remplazar lo que hay en bccb en
sendpm(array('to' => $bcc, 'bcc' => array()),
NO funciona, pero queria saber si estoy muy desviado y si me podian dar una mano.

To allow this, currently would require a couple of changes.
I didn't possible for the reasons I mentioned earlier. It would be inconvenient.
Perhaps in the future I do the change, for if somebody want to do so at your own risk.

Lo primero, es que debes leer los ID, no los nombres.
Luego parece que vas a usar la variable $bccb y más abajo se llama $bcc.
Y también falta el mysql_fetch_assoc
Trata con esto:
$sql = db_query("
SELECT ID_MEMBER
FROM {db_prefix}members
WHERE ID_GROUP = 9"
,_FILE_,_LINE_);
$bcc = array();
while ($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($sql))
$bcc[] = $row['ID_MEMBER'];

Eso debe servir. Pero sólo devuelve a los usuarios que tengan a ese grupo como grupo primario, si alguno lo tiene como grupo secundario no aparecerá.

Disable the MOD and split (if is possible) the topic/post, then enable the MOD.
There are reasons why the maximum is 100 links. (For all) Do not try increase it because the consequences will be worse.

I not did it, because the people will think that the MOD doesn't work (and will not aware that there is an impediment to check more than 100 links).
But in a new version I will do something better, just I need think how best to implement.

Lo primero, es que debes leer los ID, no los nombres.
Luego parece que vas a usar la variable $bccb y más abajo se llama $bcc.
Y también falta el mysql_fetch_assoc
Trata con esto:

WHERE ID_GROUP = 9"
,_FILE_,_LINE_);
$bcc = array();

Eso debe servir. Pero sólo devuelve a los usuarios que tengan a ese grupo como grupo primario, si alguno lo tiene como grupo secundario no aparecerá.

Lo que faltaba era "$" en db_prefix, despues tiraba otro error de que no encontraba la tabla y es porque faltaba el "$db_prefix" en las variables globales.
Y por ultimo para que busque en los grupos secundarios me fije en el post de ejemplo que dejaste para otra cosa (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=320150.0) y lo resolvi de la siguiente manera por si alguien necesita:

muy bueno el mod pero lo instale en 1.1.9 en el theme default y no hace nada :S
lo instale en 2.0 rc 1-1 en theme default y tampoco me aparecen los links muertos o vivos ni las imagenes
Alguien tiene alguna solucion...
Probe con links de rapidshare y de megaupload pero no sale nada
los links estan normal
PD: el mod esta activado en las dos versiones desde el panel de admin :S

Intenta poner el "Revisar de nuevo los Links pasado mas" de" en 0, asi te revisa si o si los links.

y modifique ocea añadi en el style.css de mi theme esa modificacion de el parse y funciono de maravillas....

Al hacer los cambios que di arriba, cuando miran en el codigo de fuente (en un tema en el que haya ese tipo de links) en la clase del link (class) aparece
class="es/ link_live" por ejemplo.
Otra cosa, M-DVD olvidaste agregar el target="_blank" a los links. Esto se puede arreglar:

Secondly, I seem to have a rather weird issue on my board whereby it doesn't render the links at first on Chrome 3.0.193.0 / Opera 9.5. However when I do a hard refresh of the page it seems to work fine. Any idea why this would happen? It works fine on Firefox 3.0.11 and IE 8.

Im having a prob with the mod not working. This is what I've done.
- It is activated in the admin panel, so that's not the issue
- I uploaded the mod via PACKAGES panel and it installed with NO errors or warnings
- After about 30 min of trouble shooting, went through the parser to see if all the code was added correctly during install. It was
- I do have cURL installed on the server, but im not sure of the other one that you said
- It is installed on a NON default theme. I even added the .css code that you offer to my theme.
- Ive hard refreshed many times
- I've even switched over the default theme and it doesnt show there either.
- Im running smf 1.1.8
There is NO indication anywhere on my site that the mod is installed EXCEPT in the ADMIN panel
Any suggestions?

Good question, is there any way to do this, then it can be easier for members to edit there posts to have less than 100 links while we wait for the updated version to allow for more links to be checked

There's a bigger problem... The link checker says all rapidshare links with .html at the end (which is optional) are dead.

something is wrong with it, the mod installed without any errors, i do see the settings for it in admin section. When ever i click on a post that has link i dont see nothing. Maybe im doing something wrong? please help, thanks!

Maybe u didnt enable the link checker, go to http://YOURFORUMURL.COM//index.php?action=admin;area=postsettings;sa=posts and check the link checker is enabled

Someone else on my forum mentioned something that could help, make sure your host setting are set to use PHP5 not an earlier version.

Well, Im not trying to argue here, but how can there be something wrong with the mod if its working perfectly on many other forums and only a few people are having problems.
You must accept the fact the mod is fine, something on your end is wrong, probably has nothing to do with your SMF installation or any other mods installed, nobody knows until they investigate every possibility.
If you give more information about the problems your having we can help you better, by more information, I mean what mods you have installed, what version os SMF are you using and what webhost your using.

I agree with you there's no problem with the MOD it is working fine on a lot of forums.
However I too have a problem on mine. I installed it on SMF 2.0 RC 1.2 it works on the default SMF theme perfect but when I use any other custom theme currently Coredark by Crip there is a some problem.. I shifted the"link_live.gif" and the "link_Dead.gif" to the custom themes /images/icons folder now it shows the green tick sign for live links but even for dead links it shows the same green tick sign can u help with this.

I unchecked the rapidshare checking and now the link checker shows some alive MEGAUPLOAD links as dead, I don't know if it's a coincidence but this never happened before... and after I edited and saved the topic, it shows me the link as alive.

EDIT: Maybe if I truncate the log column (or all mod tables) it would be fixed... but I didn't tried it myself. I think the mod should do this automatically in the future...

When you installed the mod, did you use the Install mod in other themes option, if you did not, then the mod will not work on that theme, to fix u can uninstall the mod and reinstall the mod again and make sure to check off install mod on the other themes you use.

there is a problem with Rapidshare links been reported as dead when there alive if the link has the .html at the end, if you have the .html at the end simply remove the .html and it will be marked correctly

I've installed 2 SMF forum on 2 differents server. The first have PHP 5.2.9 and the second PHP 5.2.5.
They have the same PHP5.ini.
The first is hosted on apthost and the second on godaddy. The two are web hosting (not dedicated server or vps).
But ... on the first install, the mod work perfectly but not in the second install.. :|
There is no error but it doesn't work on all server, why ? :(

did you make edits to bypass the 100 link limit, if you did, you will need to clear the checker values on the smfmessages table in the database.
try making an edit to a post which is marking incorrectly, sometimes it will fix the issue, just by simply editing the post anywhere (just add a space or dot at the end maybe)

You are right I did make edits to bypass the 100 link limit when I 1st installed it but now when I reinstalled it I didn't change it..also I am not sure what you mean by "Clear the Checker Values on the smfmessages".
I went to my DB and checked it but don't know what to do...
Also tried to edit the links but even after editing its the same..

Euh.. my problem was solved. I was debugging each line of the mod and when I removed them, the mod worked perfectly !
I think it was the php5.ini (or php.ini for PHP4) but i cannot say what the variable was set to on/off.

And Delete the column checker_time in {db_prefix}messages
And then re-install the MOD.

Disable the MOD and split (if is possible) the topic/post, then enable the MOD.
There are reasons why the maximum is 100 links. (For all) Do not try increase it because the consequences will be worse.

I not did it, because the people will think that the MOD doesn't work (and will not aware that there is an impediment to check more than 100 links).
But in a new version I will do something better, just I need think how best to implement.

I deactivate the mod a few weeks ago. I just activate it again and now it's checking the .html links just fine...

Otra cosa, en algunos topics solo chequea exactamente 89 links (si es q los conte bien) de MEGAUPLOAD y si hay mas los reporta como muertos... si edito y salvo el topic los marca bien (como vivos)...

Check with the hosting if cURL is activated or not? If not then ask them to activate it then install the MOD itg will work..

Please, delete some links, use other filehost or open other topic.
1. The post(s) concerned do not contain over 100 links.
2. After uninstalling the mod I was able to open the post(s) in question and they did not contain any dead links at all.
Shame this mod still seems to have a few bugs as it could be one of the most invaluable mods available.

You Don't.
That will mess everything up, even though it can make it work for you it will get the checker invalid results, mark some links as dead when there alive and vica versa

Well, I think I've given up for now. I tried that and it didn't work for me with my forum using RC1.2. I've tried everything that I saw advised and it's just not working, as if it's not even installed. Is there anything other than "log_link_checker_status" and "checker_time" from the messages table that needs to be deleted before trying a new install with an edited subs.php? I've done that twice - and yes, also using the 'install in other theme' option.
The above edit does work, but causes inaccurate results for the link check, making it completely useless, If/When M-DVD updates the mod, it will most likey have either an option to choose how many links to be scanned per post or just a higher amount, the edits he makes will work correctly

M-DVD can probably add new servers in later updates as the script becomes available to him, you will just have to wait.

the link checker is programmed to only check 100 links, I suggest you disable it and split the post into to parts, 50 links in each post, then enable the mod again
Doing anything to remove the limit, (as done before) will deem this mod useless.
that either happens if you do need the upgrade, or on some mods it happens when your installing it and the database tables already exist

As i said u above i installed auto link checker to newly installed smf ....without taking any database backup so i think its not possible that the tables allready exists in the database.
so what shud i do now ?? shud i need to delete the tables manually from database...if yes then please provide me the name of that table....

This simply isn't working for me.. the links look no different, there's no indication of if the download is working or not.. is there a common problem, or am I stupid, or is it just not working?

No it does not take time to work, another member had an issue with this once, I dont think it ever got solved, EVER! lol
I think something in this mod is server dependent, since I can install it right now and it will work fine, thus proving, there is nothing wrong with the mod.
I can't imagine why it would fail.. another mod by the same author that relies on getting data from other websites works fine.. if there is another user with the same issue, it means it's compatibility problem with the mod, and not my problem..

As MDVD told before the only simple way to add more sharing server is add the server with check tools inside, various site have tools for check link, i tried to add them but without result, may be somebody more good with php can try to modify the autolinckecer Sub.php

I cant wait for new version because i noticed lots of BUGs after using this MOD from beginning!
My problem happend yesterday and its still here, after trying to open some post with links inside i get blank page, turning OFF this great MOD everything works 100% i can open every post, turning it ON again i cant open any post with links inside (RS, MU, FF, ...)
So i contact host, they said everything is ok on their side regarding server (which is shared), then problem is with this MOD (already tryied to reinstall, same)!
I cant imagine my forum without this, its dead forum so i badly need answers or M-DvDs new version!

So.. to clarify, you get this error only when attempting to view posts that have dead Rapidshare links?
If So..
I suggest you disable the mod completely then uninstall it, and clear/drop the checker column in smf messages.
Try installing the mod again after doing all of that, don't make any changes to the code (usually to remove the 100 link limitation)

table, {prefix}messages. Column "checker".
erase data from the checker row for that message, then view the post again.
See what happens, it should re check all links in that post.
I have just wait for 4-5 days and this MOD suddenly works great :)

Are the links good or not, you have tested a known dead link and a known good one?

yes, but allways the first link or, if a single link, the single link appears in black, if more then one link the other ones appear in red or blue (according to a fake link or not) but the first one stays black.
But like I say, if the first link is the dead one I do get the pm
the dead links appear red, the good ones green, the first one (if more then one link) in black.

That's really strange, I dont know what could be causing only one link to do that while the rest are been checked.
Try making space between the 1st code tag and 1st link. like:

Suddenly this stupid MOD sends me blank messages when a link becomes death, omfg im going crazy if i continue to use this MOD but its only MOD that i need on my forum, thats my problem!
Tryied reinstalling from scratch added all possible lines in my custom theme, checked 3 times if i missed something and no its not working!
Im going crazy and i cant see M-DvD here since 2 months omfg this MOD is so f***** up, also removed all lines in my database regarding this MOD and it wont work normally, man this s*** is crazy!

great mod ,i just installed using package manager on my smf 1.1.11
but i cant see live link image and colur and dead link image and colur on custom theme
I edited style.css of my custom theme manually and i uploaded two images to my custom theme images
on smf default its working fine

I really need this mod.
It never worked 100% for me and I suspect it was causing havoc with my host. Soon after I begun using it, I got a warning from my host that my cpu usage had gone waaaay up and they wanted me to upgrade my account. Not saying I know for sure it was this mod, but after I got rid of it things returned to normal, so....
It appears they're quite a few issues with this mod. I've attached a copy here (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=355886.msg2420629#msg2420629) fixing a problem with creating tables without {db_prefix}. The author should please try to resolve these problems.

It is already compatible with Rapidshare.
It should be possible to make it Hotfile compatible as hotfile has a linkchecker here: http://hotfile.com/checkfiles.html
But i don't know if hotfile has api and i think that is needed.

Whether auto link checker bot could be a member and not a guest? that has its own profile, to be as warez bb forum, as that is the right member, so that he could manage to have a profile avatar, signature, location ... Just not to be a guest ... I know I can do to change that as well as one hundred private message send notice of dead links, so that the same post, and wrote that checked and that link is incorrect? and to post links that are correct or incorrect link checked writings, for example, 19.2.2010 at 20h - the links are correct or incorrect? Otherwise the modification of the cool! :)

Its maybe because the text in the spoiler is not counted by the checker, and it checks the links still because the script is still active on the page.

No, it's a modification for SMF, not phpBB. Though if you're rewriting it to work on phpBB, odds are it'll be enough of a rewrite there won't be any original code left.

Now, should i first try to uninstall this failed MOD installation and then use your code? Or can just go ahead and edit the code on my live forum installation? But i have no idea in what file to replace the code you so kindly provided, Arantor. :)
It is a disappointment that the original author of this mod, M-DVD, has decided to give up. Maybe he doesn't know how to upgrade it to make his mod compatible with RC3? :D Anyways, i can only hope that someone takes up the development of this very useful mod.
The code I changed is in install.php (or it might be install2.php) in the mod's package.
Uninstall, unpack the mod zip file locally, edit the install php file, zip it, upload it. No guarantee it'll work... but it'll solve the DB installation at least.
For those who are suffering the annoying tendancy for this mod to skip the first when link in a code block here is a simple fix.
Open - Sources/Subs.php and find both instances of the following code
<code class="bbc_code">$1</code>
and change them both to
<code class="bbc_code"> $1</code>
This will but a space at the start of every code block but it lets the link checker work perfectly :D

you are using a custom theme thats why, the modified version is for the curve theme [main smf theme]
Problem is, the modified theme is not my default for the forum. The errors that was shown, was for the default main theme. The Modified themes never showed errors.

To further denote this: I was using the Darkmodern Curve theme as my own personal thing. Everyone else is on the forum default curve.
EDIT: Fixed it. i seen what the problem was. It is not compatible with Antispam Links mod. Because both this, and that, use the exact same line. So only one or the other. Uninstalled it, and it works.
Also, do not install Highlight User Names mod. It too uses the exact same line.
Found this out when I started to do a parse. And started checking stuff that I installed one by one, until those two came up.

Yes, that is indeed a serious problem for those who have a big forum. I have over 100k posts in my forum and i think this will be a big problem for me too. I certainly do not want to risk being kicked out of my shared server by my host... Unless the script is recoded to take this into account, for example, if this mod auto pauses every 5 secs or less.
That's why the 100 link limitation was implemented into the mod, if you bypassed it then, well its not warrantied anymore..

I used it fine on my forum, but then several people had threads with other 100 links, not that bad a deal, but with no way of editing the threads when the mod is enabled, it had to be removed.
Isn't there any solution to work around the 100 links problem? Maybe fix the script to detect that and pause every 100 links.
The is a edit you can make to avoid it, but then it starts giving false results, dead links alive and vice versa

So... Nobody is allowed to pick this mod and continue its development? I think it is a very useful mod and SMF should support ALL types of forums, and it's not about illegal sharing, though i have to agree that most do use it for that purpose, but for those who are legit, this mod should exist, otherwise SMF might lose to other forum platforms and what's the point in being free, if freedom for development is stifled or "frowned upon".

I'm not the one assuming the use of this mod to check links to illegal content, as you can see I have offered support on this mod before, personally, I don't care about it, everything will be pirated, no matter what, this link checker is not the cause of it, neither helps it.
As for your issue, When you have made manual edits to bypass the 100 link limit, that is exactly what happens, as I mentioned a few posts ago, to fix it you will need to clear all the records from the smf messages . checker column, also undo the edit you made.
If you have not made edits to bypass the 100 link limit, then the issue is caused somewhere else. (which I don't know)

Por cierto decirte que funciona mal pero funciona, detecta los enlaces de hotfile pero pone a todos como muertos y no aparece ningun enlace de hotfile en la DB...ese es el error.
No se si es una tonteria o costara adaptarlo pero creo que la informacion que he dado es bastante util, simplemente dime como hacer este e intentare adaptar otros muchos servers.

I say that works but work BAD. Register all the links like dead links. But it's a progress this say that it's possible.
Maybe there is an error in my code, maybe not, i'm sure. And i want to know, from someting with any idea, if thre is any solution.
All de servers can be integrated. Only you have to look for its Tool, API and Key...and other things that i looked for Hotfile. The tool is right.
I suppose that M-DVD didn't have enought time to addapt many servers. BUt it's possible.

Due to the limitations of this mod i had to stop using it.
I found this (http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/9467) script wich works great with tons of servers and as no limit to the number of files checked per page. It doesn't work with IE though.
If someone could help to make a server side mod out of this to SMF it would be great O:)
The best code i view is that and work so better but NEVER i was able to make it work, because with hidden section for guest it not work, need to add bot for bypass, if somebody could make it work for smf will be GREAT so much site using it

very nice, i installed it, try it with them test page and work but with my links dont work... so strange with one clean page everything is ok but with link in tag code or simply in forum page have not effect for me sure, the script need to work inside to tag code and inside the post windo

You got me wrong... the server side doesn't work because it needs an index.html and SMF has a index.php. At least i didn't manage to make it work...
What i did was install the greasemonkey for Firefox has you can see here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzDt-5ddVwM). It works, but you have to tell every user on your forum to install it in Firefox or Opera browsers putting an announcement in your sign or something like that... that's why i would like to see this script implemented in SMF, which sincerely i doubt it will ever happen.
A pity dont have one similar mod, this script grekmo... i already saw wokring in one IPB site checking link and working very well, if is possible in IPB i think is the same possible for SMF

You should at least try to hide the fact your forum is used to share pirated software.

EDIT: opte por reinstalar el mod, limpiar el campo checker_time en la tabla message y eliminar la tabla que crea el mod.

Try to restore that missing file. It does not matter if you are using a custom theme as the edit is being made in the default theme file. Just download a package for RC3 and extract that .css file and upload it to that path. Also, you should consider upgrading to RC4.
over 17 pages for this mod and no one can make it work with rc4 and add other file host for it.
seems to me that the maker of the mod don't care what happens to it or he would of kept it going up to date.

This mod is incredibly useful and it is a very sad ending that nobody would even care to pick this up. I am ready to even pay for it, as well as many people that i know, if someone can update it and make it work properly with SMF 1.1.12 and SMF 2.0 RC4.
Several great modifications have been abandoned for SMF... Very few active developers left. I guess it's the end of this great software soon :(

That's a common sight on SMF and since the past few years, things have gone definitely downhill. Many of the lead developers (good guys that i know) have left due to obvious problems within the SMF team, and others got booted or banned. SMF 2.0 is probably going to be released in 2011 and then the whole thing is going to blow up. IMHO, SMF 3.0 is never EVER happening, as they are endlessly struggling since half a decade with 2.0
BTW, if you really want someone take care of fixing/creating a modification, just offer them some $ for the job (it's really sad that money is the only driving factor to bring out the few talented SMF developers on here) . There's this section:

This mod has been abandoned since a long time. Potential developers have all been scared away from this mod, as some people around here feel so smart that they seem to insist that this mod is only for warez forums. I feel sick from seeing all that arrogance and ignorance.
Here is an example of this mod's legal use (and i am sure that there are plenty of other cases to support the need for renewed development in this project): I have a discussion board and my members want to post their creations, art or music compositions of their own, but i cannot possibly afford years of uploads to be hosted on my shared forum package, so i have to encourage my members to make use of file hosting services, like rapidshare, hotfile, depositfiles, etc. What's wrong with having a link checker in my case?? All other major forum softwares have a proper link checker.

The vast bulk of users of this mod do so for warez or similarly dubious purposes - yet there are fully legal purposes as you've identified. But for all the legal users, there are plenty more less legal users, hence the reputation you've alluded to.

Yes the other forums have such things, however they too suffer the same problem that the mods become outdated over time, and mod authors move on. SMF is no better or worse in that case, since mod authors do move on over time - but it IS hurt by its long dev cycle for 2.0 since many mod authors aren't going to update mods for RCs.

And people accuse ME of having it in for SMF...
Once 2.0 final comes out, some of the trend will be reversed as some will return to update their mods. Others will update from 1.1.x to 2.0. But the bulk of the damage has been done, and a large proportion of the damage is related to how hard it is to work on SMF mods, simply because of the manual patching.
The crap attitude mod authors get is common to all platforms where people expect something for nothing, which applies to every one of the free platforms out there, especially since if the mod authors tell those (those who demand what they can get) where to go, they get accused of having a bad attitude. (Been there, done that, got the t-shirt)
The real test will be SMF 2.1, and whether mod writing gets easier to do without code modifications (i.e. mods are more likely to work across versions without having issues, and especially theme issues) - because if it does, and it doesn't take forever to happen, the situation is likely to be salvagable. I wouldn't call it recoverable, necessarily, but certainly something can be salvaged - if the team can design, build and publish something worth drawing users in with.
Of course, this is why SMF is being forked once 2.0 final comes out with its licence change... so that those brave enough to give it a shot are doing so.

You'll be lucky if someone does any development for this mod before 2012 (i assume that's when SMF will cease to exist, since it's almost out of faithful developers).

okay i can understand that but then why not let somebody else take it over or let them update it instead of the bs that you always hear that the mod has been abandon and so on and that smf wont allow anyone to mess with it

Hi, this mod work very well on SMF 2 gold final with a premium theme, I use it. The link is checked and PM send (just a little probleme, the PM is send but the texte doesn't show but i don't think it very difficult to correct this, perhaps an error in my french traduction). I have not had time to look in detail the cause of the bug.
This mod bugs, it works sometimes but after few days, it detects deadlinks that they are not... And spam users for nothing ..

I think your server has a bad connection (which causes your bugs), this mod works well on a dedicaced server. Bug may occur when the connection is not done with the MU checker (bad connection or too much traffic / no enough resource). But with a dedicated server and a good connection, there is no problem. On thousands link only 4 / 5 are false positive. (the link is good but indicated false).

I will put the mod that I use but I do not remember if I am making manual changes or not, the mod is hard translated in french, and I have change the mod, it send PM with a user with avatar not as guest. You must create a user and changes ID and name in AutoLinkChecker-Subs.php before install it:

Sadly this mod is a way outdated and most probably is not working anymore, so there's no point of installing it at all IMO.

This mod is dead, I just checked my php files and nothing installed at all.
I did all the edits and it crashed my forum, so I changed it all back.
pity, I've got old links some still good some bad but couldn't be bothered testing them all.
