I have a couple of members on the Staff, that can't see the Admin. Staff Room, yet all the permissions are there..
I have had then clear the cache and do a F5 refresh, still doesn't work. I have run the clear cache in the ACP and still nothing..
I also have an Admin. that gets this error, when trying to work in the ACP
Error: QuoteBoard Validating IP information does not have a valid parent. Use the 'find and repair errors' function to fix this.
I have done "find and repair errors" numerous times, nothing, get a message "no errors"
Any thoughts or ideas how to fix this.
Thanks
Ron.
can you try moving the board's location and see if that fixes the issue?

What do you mean move the boards location?
in the admin panel. move the board and see if the error goes away.

Doesn't matter where the board is, as soon as this Admin, goes to Boards and Categories, clicks on he get this error.
OK I moved a board, and still the same thing, but it only is on Boards & Categories, that the error shows.. But it does work on all other functions in the ACP.. Also this Admin. can not see the Staff Room either..
I also made a member a Global Moderator with all permissions for the Admin. Staff Room and he still can't see the forum to open it..
I can make adjustments, and I have the same permissions..
Are you using "Deny permissions"?
i am assuming the board in question is a child board, did you move the board so it is not a child then move it back?

Sorry I don't follow, didn't know there were such permissions..

I changed it to default, same thing, Admin. still can not see the Staff Room.
This Admin, signs into the ACP and when he wants to make or change a board, he clicks on Boards and Categories, and the error appears, so he can't even open it..to make a change..
To quote the help text of ACP → Members → Permissions → Settings → "Enable the option to deny permissions":
QuoteDenying permissions can be useful when you want to take away permission from certain members. You can add a membergroup with a 'deny'-permission to the members you wish to deny a permission.
Use with care, a denied permission will stay denied no matter what other membergroups the member is in.
By "staff room", are you referring to the ACP/Moderation page, or a mod like this (https://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2167)?
given the error message initially posted this is a board they are trying to access.
Ah, you're using EhPortal (https://web-develop.ca/index.php?action=downloads), which apparently is a canadian 2.1 port of SimplePortal. It's probably a bug in that mod.
For the record I actually assumed the issue was trying to restore a previously deleted topic to a board that no longer exists; there aren't that many ways to get the style of error being shown there.

Ah, gotcha.
@Oldcrow: Did you try ACP → Maintenance → Forum Maintenance → Routine → "Find and repair any errors"?

that was run already.
Ah, sorry for the noise, it's late here.
Anything in the ACP error log (I assume not, as you're talking about "no errors"?) or the webserver error logs?
(I'll shut up now for ~8 hours. ;))

No I don't have a Team Page installed. I have a Hidden forum with permission for access to Admin. Global Moderators only..

Not trying to access any particular board, this Admin gets this error when he clicks on Boards & Categories, this is where you can add a forum or change a forum.
no one else but that one person is getting this error?

Aye yep Chen made this EHPortal.. I'll see about disabling it or removing and see if this does the trick.

Nope, just one Admin. gets this error, maybe because I am the other person, I have a second account, I use once in awhile..

if you look in the database, boards table, what is in the column id_parent for that board's id?

Can you tell me where I'd look for this..
phpMyAdmin > Select database from list at left > scroll to smf_boards (it's near the top) > select "Browse".
id_parent is the fourth column along. :)

Thanks for the help
Admin. Staff id_parent is 0
Admin/Moderator Staff Room id_parent is 249
I also attached two images.
Do you have a board 249?

The Staff Room the Admin. can not enter is 149
I have attached a image of the forum I am talking about Administration Staff Room
Yes, that's my point. The board that doesn't work says its parent board is 249 (not 149). Does board 249 exist?

How would I find out if I have a board 249, where could I look?
Thanks

do you have any other boards beyond what is in your prior screenshot? if not then it does not look like you have a board with id 249.

Here is board 249 https://coffeetimeunlimited.com/index.php?board=249.0 OK I click on Admin Staff (which is board 249) and it opens the boards that are inside this..
It is getting confusing now.. Admin Staff is the header, when you click on Admin Staff it opens to the sub's which are Administration Staff Room, now also in there are 2 more sub's
I have also included 2 images of what I mean.

Hi Illori, I am back for more advice. I made a new Group gave them all the permissions, still can not see the Staff Room. So I made a new Staff Room and changed the name also, still this group can not see the new Staff Room either.
What I have done is also give them Administrator permissions along with the Global Moderator's permission.. Now they can see the Staff Room.. But it should not be this way.
One thing I have noticed when I open the ACP and open the Staff Room board, the permission for the selected groups to see the Staff Room are grayed out, and you can not change them in anyway. I have attached an image for you to view, to see what I mean..
given the information in this topic, I don't think this can resolved without looking at your admin panel. if you want PM me the link and admin account details.
I also need to know which user should have access and are having issues along with which group they should be in.

please ask Redrobyn to check if the SSR board is visible. I have removed the permission for global moderators to "Manage boards and categories" this permission says it should grant access to all boards, but it seems like it is not. if this fixed the issue for the group then we may have a bug on our hands.

OK I will send her a PM asking her.
In the mean time I also have a second account, I changed it to Global Moderator and signed in, and I can see the Staff Room as a Global Moderator..
So I think this may have solved my issue. I will post back a all clear after I hear from Redrobyn.
Thanks
Ron.
I also disabled the ability to deny access to a board, but I don't think in this case that was the issue. you can try to enable it again and test to confirm that.

OK That's works. I denied access to the trash can and the trash can doesn't show when I sign in as a Global Moderator..

Illori redrobyn answered me back. Good news she can access the Staff Room..
I'd like to thank you for your help in solving this for us. Thanks Illori..
Ron.
then next for any other groups with this issue is to remove the permission for manage boards and categories. modify the group to provide access to the boards in question and remove them from admin group.
