Awhile back I saw a post (and thought I bookmarked it) about merging the user tables from two different SMF forums. This would be just the members/users and not all the posts etc... Anybody know where this went? I've been searching for 2 hours (no lies).

davon

do you mean this thread here? not sure, coz it's about how to share and not merge, but perhaps helpful (at least i hope so)

Hmmm that might be helpful, but I don't think that's the post I was looking for. In fact, I think I replied to the post I'm referencing with something like "Has anybody tried this, does it work"?

lol nope not that one either. The one I'm looking for has a snippet of code that can be used to convert/merge two members tables.

Umm... how many of these have you posted in :P?  Maybe it'd be better if you just went back through your posts in your profile :P?

lol I know man. I tried doing a bit of everything here. it's like the post is just gone. I swear I bookmarked it, but for some reason when I upgraded firefox I lost my favorites. =/

I'll keep looking. Do you know if this can be done?? I just want to dump one table of members into the main table from two different forums, and if there is a duplicate account don't import it.

Yes, it can be done.  I wrote a bit about this in some topic... I cannot find it myself.....

Essentially, you'd insert all rows from B into A where B.memberName did not exist in A and B.emailAddress did not exist in A.  This could be done with a single query, theoretically (although a very slow one :P.)

Ok. I'll keep searching and if I can't find it then I'll try to write it myself and post here.
