It's blatant disrespect to remove the copyrights for the software that run your site and the people that make it look they way it does. And remember they do this for "FREE!"

As you can see from the message "LEGAL REQUIREMENT" it would be wise to leave it. If not don't be surprised when your site gets shutdown.

Btw: My friend genius managed to remove it ;P Well the copy right is now not visible, but it still exists. For example in the html source of index

Awesome... we'll now be sending you an official notice to restore the SMF copyright to a visible unaltered state.  Apparently reading isn't your specialty... perhaps you missed the RED BOLD TEXT that says 'LEGAL REQUIREMENT'.  If you can't abide by SMF's license, you cannot use the software.
