The back button is my usual answer to that, or the main linktree. Really, what you want is something that actually says 'Back to board' on it, which is something different to this mod.

I might drop info on how to do it as a tip/trick in the relevant board shortly if I get time.

Nice modification.
Ive been trying to change the displayed url to an image that links back to the post when clicked, but my attempts have been fruitless.
This is one way Ive tried
$message['body'] .= "\n\n[size=1]" . $txt['linkback'] . ': <img src="link to image" alt""' . $scripturl . ((!empty($modSettings['queryless_urls']) && $modSettings['queryless_urls']) ? '/topic,' . $topic . '.0.html' : '?topic=' . $topic . '.0') . ' />[/size]';

Could you point me in the correct direction mate?
Thanks in advance :)

As for cloaking, I wouldn't suggest it because Google has been known to penalise for that before now.

Hmm, I wasn't aware of this... so display: none; in CSS shouldn't be used when possible? Does this just apply to text?

Arantor

Sabre:

It's added to the message prior to being parsed for BBcode, so you get to insert it as BBcode:
$message['body'] .= "\n\n[size=1]" . $txt['linkback'] . ': [url=' . $scripturl . ((!empty($modSettings['queryless_urls']) && $modSettings['queryless_urls']) ? '/topic,' . $topic . '.0.html' : '?topic=' . $topic . '.0') . '][img]link to image[/img][/url][/size]';

kai920: There are times to use display:none; and times not to. If you through links into a page then hide them, it's suspicious.

Very nice Arantor, and thank You mate. :)

I doubt it'll help in that regard, each link is an internal link and most sites do not usually consider them as such - indeed, careless use of this can actually hurt your SEO ranking, I believe.

I need help with this mod, i installed it on my forum, then deleted it because i dint like it. But it is still there. Is there any way to manually delete it?

Arantor

How did you delete it?

Jrock2394

I hit "delete" in the admin panel.

Arantor

Ah, the reason it didn't get removed is because you didn't select Uninstall first.

Go to http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2112, select your version of SMF in the dropdown, then press 'Parse'. This will give you a list of the edits made by the mod. You'll have to do them in reverse to remove it.

Please do LinkBack the left of the button to report?
Sorry for my poor English.

Arantor

I don't really understand what you mean.

It should be at the foot of the post, above the signature.

The reason it was done the way it was is to avoid having to modify the theme files directly - there are no theme edits in this mod at all.

Btw, I'm not doing any further development on this mod because I'm trying to give it away.

I like the Mod. Thanks Arantor. One question: the linkback does not reflect the PRettyURLs. I am using PrettyURL. It shows the original URL.

humbleworld

Another problem: I am seeing this txt on top of the forum site: $txt['linkback'] = 'Linkback'; $txt['linkbackStyle'] = 'Linkback style'; $txt['linkbackStyle_post'] = 'Link back to the individual post'; $txt['linkbackStyle_topic'] = 'Link back to the topic'; $txt['linkback_copy'] = 'Linkback Mod © Bryan Runic Deakin';

How shall I remove that?

humbleworld

I cannot also find the Settings/Admin link to this Mod in my forum site.
