news and newsletters: Session timeout.

Dear all

I have a problem:

if we want to sent a mass pm or mass e.mail to all members or just one membergroup we get Sessie timeout.

I've tested with one membergroup: owners (previous admins). There are just 4 people who are in this membergroup. I sent to all of them (4) a pm using news and newsletters, immediately they get the pm, but in the smf page where you sent the pm, it keeps on sending (0,16 done, 1% done etc). It takes a long while after which we get a session time out. Same thing happens if we want to sent an e-mail.

Could you pls advise us?

Was already typing the above. Yes we have errors:

most of the time the following error, something with arcade? we have disabled it (not uninstalled) but stil errors.

Odd, the Arcade mod is pretty stable in 2.0. However I'm sure that's not causing you trouble.

What about errors regarding the sending of the newsletters? Try sending one and take a look at the errorlog right after that.

How many members does your forum have?

For example one of my forums has 3,000 members and it takes a while to send all the newsletters. This is because it's in shared hosting.

Please contact your host and ask them if there is a limit on how many php mails you can send in an hour or a day. Some host limit bulk emails, some even disables it.

I have cleaned the errorlog and hv sent a masspm to the administrators (we have 4 administrators including me). No new error.

It keeps sending and sending just for 4 pms. But i see that i already have received the pm. I receive the pm immediately... direct after i have pushed the button "sent", however it keeps sending and sending (0.15 % done, 0.28% done etc), but the job is already done.

So, the emails are sending okay but the session expires. Weird.

Could you try switching to the default theme and see if the problem persists?

looks like her site is too slow because of traffic on the host so it takes too long to redirect back and the server gives a timeout error.. what you think? logic..

Katrien, could you setup a testforum on the same server, unmodified and see if you can send out newsletters from there?

yeah, it can really be a slow connection or a slow host because of muuuuch traffic but i really think you must read xenovanis posts, katrien cuz i am still a newbie

i dont think server is the problem because the pms are sent quickly. Task is done correctly as it should be, everybody has got the pm immediately, but it continues sending (it looks like that, 0,4 % done, 2 % done, 2,4 done)

We have a test forum and there we do not have that problem (i have tested that). I have compared the server settings and there was one difference:

Schakel evaluatie van templates uit (translation: dont evaluate the templates) is marked (yes) on our test forum and not on our live forum. I've changed that on our live forum, but unfortunately still the same problem.

It Looks Like A Configuration You Made On The New Forum Or A Mod Is Causing That...
Try Putting All The Mods You Have In The Testing Forum And See If 1 Of Them Is Causing The Problem..
I Don't Understand Why Will It Timeout When Messages Are Already Sended Correctly.. WEIRD..
Anyways Your English Isn't Bad...
And Don't Loose Hope (Like Me) And Someone Will Answer If It Is Not A Mod Problem..
Recheck Your Cookie Settings And Server Settings, News Settings Too..
