Hi, all.

Nice forum and forum software you have here. If possible, I need some assistance. I want to load the latest SMF forum on our local Intranet for our Police Department to use in swapping information. So, I set it up locally to make sure it'll work for us. The details are:

Running locally (for now) on Windows XP, SP3

WAMPServer (Apache, MySQL, PHP)

Two users - Administrator (Me), one Regular User (Police Sergeant)

I discovered today while we were showing it in a meeting that the Sergeant does not have a Reply or New Topic button anywhere on the forum. I, as the administrator, have both, but that won't do us any good if users can't reply or post.

I've looked at his permissions and everything looks fine, but he can't really participate.

I don't know if this will help or not, but he only shows up in the "Newbies" category. I show up in "Newbies" and "Administrators," but he's in "Newbies" only. I'm thinking that if I can get him into "Regular Users," it might do the trick.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I believe that's a board setting. Click on 'modify' on a board and make sure you have "Newbie" checked in "Allowed Groups:".

Illori

you need to verify your permissions for the "regular member" group which is the default group for anyone that does not have a group, also these permissions are inherited for those in post count based groups.

Hmmm... you may have just solved it. Unfortunately, I won't know until tomorrow but I'll come back here with a followup.

Thanks a ton!

I checked that today. It had Reply allowed for "My Posts" and "Any Posts."

But thanks! I'll also be sure to re-check that.

Update: Mari-chi, your suggestion worked and it made my day.

Thanks, everyone!
