What are the possible reasons as to why SMF reports daily traffic (page views) 2.5x higher than Google Analytics?

It may be due to the reason that google script may not be called on pages like profile settings, messages etc while smf registers those page views

I have my script in a Simple Portal block that shows at the bottom of every board, thread, posting, PM, action, and SP Page.

from what i understand and this has been discussed here before, google analytics will remove some hits by spiders/robots etc where smf does not, so smf is more accurate then google analytics ever will be.

Do spiders and robots cause ad impressions?

Illori

you would have to ask the service proving the ads

Agreed with Illori, but smf should completely  seperate the bots and humans data so that owners can get the behaviour of their visitors accurately.

@colby depending on the adnetwork , the bot may or may not cause ad impressions, if their ad code detects bot and doesnt call the server, then bots may not increase impressions , otherwise they will.
I had a mobile site and got an attack , generating about 100 pv/sec and when i checked my  publisher account with a mobile ads network, it had registered .5 million impressions a hour, (although i lost my publisher account and also got site closed for a month for ending up resources)

Thanks.  I was able to ascertain that GA lines up well with my ad agency.
