Hi, when I type my url in to a brower I get an all text screen with no images, any help would be appreciated.

Arantor

Please add a link to your site in your next post.

Arantor

Let me guess, you added a mod to remove index.php from the URL?

toastedone

Arantor

You should not have. Uninstall it and the behaviour will stop being a problem.

toastedone

Thanks that seemed to fix it, my urls now look like this

/general-discussion/?PHPSESSID=999b5db29a8f9c019e486ebd695fdd9a

Is that normal?

Arantor

wait, you're using Pretty URLs? (as opposed to 'Remove index.php from URLs')

The PHPSESSID is supposed to be in links for the first page view, or further if cookies are disabled.

toastedone

I had both installed, I have removed Remove index.php from URLs'

Arantor

OK. So yes, the behaviour you're seeing is normal for SMF. The PHPSESSID id will go away once you visit a page or two.

toastedone

yep that is working now so should i leave it as sitename/index.php?

Arantor

Yes. There is no reason to change it and plenty of reason not to.

toastedone

That is a massive help thank you.

On another note when I try and post quick reply the box goes off the screen to the right and the text is not centered, if i need to start a new thread about this issue i understand.

That suggests you're using a version of a theme designed for SMF 2.0 RC5 and not for 2.0 final (this was a bugfix that occurred at that point)

In your case you seem to be using Inferno which if you got it from this site, you would definitely have gotten an out of date version - you should get the later version from dzinerstudio.com who made the theme.

toastedone

If i install that version, will i lose what work i have already done?

Arantor

Yes...

Though you could grab the original version you downloaded, then the 2.0 version from dzinerstudio.com and compare the differences, it should pretty much just be tweaks in index.css to fix up.

toastedone

so by installing a new theme I will lose all posts, cats and members permissions? or just my logo

Arantor

You won't lose posts or members or permissions.

You will lose any modifications you have made to the theme itself.

toastedone

Thats great thanks again for your time.

How can I mark this as solved.
