SMF 2.1 should support php7.2 -- but something in your manage attachments is not 7.2 compatible.

Automatic attachment rotation (and resize) seems like a probable culprit.

I believe you are right. I took the PHP back to 7.1 and the error goes away.

The mod author should still upgrade it to be compatible.
