My client is running 2.0X. They'd like to know if there is a log of deleted posts, or even a place where deleted posts reside?

Thanks for the help in advance!

In a completely default configuration, no.

First thing to check, Admin > Forum > Boards and Categories > Settings -> in here you can turn on the recycle bin, which moves deleted posts into it for preservation, but it has to be enabled, and isn't by default.

As for deletion log, that's covered by Admin > Configuration > Core Features > select "Moderation and Administration Logs" and press save, but if it's not already enabled you won't have the logs for it.

Thank you!!

I turned on the recycled posts and made a category for them for the future, but when I try that second suggestion, after clicking on Core Features, I just get a white screen.

Anything in the error log (either SMF's own, or the server error log)?

srhedd

No, just a few random log-in errors.

If you get a white screen, there should be a record in an error log - hence I was curious about the server log as well as SMF's... it's impossible to diagnose without more information, as there's otherwise "an error" somewhere in about 15,000 lines of code...

Log-in errors seem unlikely to be relevant to a WSOD in the admin panel.

I meant just typical employees forgetting their passwords. Happens daily.

Kindred

so check the SERVER error log (not the one in SMF)

a WSOD typically indicates a server side failure of php, so the server error log should have captured the issue.
