Ah. I'm using Firefox, which only displays alt text unless you tweak a particular setting.

Found the problem. The theme you're using isn't compatible with 1.0.x. Either find a different theme or upgrade to 1.1 RC3 (even though it says it's for 1.1 RC2, it will work with 1.1 RC3 just fine).
