Hi there.

Firstly I'll start off by saying that I am a complete and utter noob when it comes to this kind of thing, but I'll try and outline the problem the best I can..

(By the way, I've also searched through this website for help using the 'search' function and only found old posts, 2+ years....I've also tried google with no help either..)

I am only testing the forums on my own computer so far, I have Apache installed and configured correctly I believe, and I also have MySQL and PHP installed..

I've edited the necessary files (php.ini, httpd.config) correctly, but still every single time I click on install.php I only get a webpage full of code, for some reason I think apache isn't processing the php script correctly....but I don't know how to fix this?

I've tried uninstalling all the above programs and reinstalling, reconfiguring and I still get exactly the same results, what am I doing wrong?

It it's for testing purposes I recommend XAMPP.

Sadly that's exactly what I am using now, and it still doesn't work. :(

Are you sure that it's configured properly?  That's what I use and I have no problems with it.

I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to this kind of thing but I *thought* it was installed and configured correctly..

perhaps not though I suppose.

I was of the opinion it was as simple as installing it and that was it basically, not much manual config?

You shouldn't really need to change any configs.  Just start up the services.

Okay, I've uninstalled it (and any other remaining copies of Apache that were hiding) and I'm now about to reinstall, hopefully this time it works.
