Revised country flag mod request

hello,

im new here and trying out smf.  ive been lurking around to find answers to my questions.  i came across this country flag mod and i was thinking that there are many possible uses of this mod.  i dont know anything about modding and php so i leave it you guys..  this is merely a suggestion..

im thinking that instead of country flags, can we have a different kind of selections, ie, maybe clubs or school icons..  or better yet to give it more flexibility, admins can input what type of selections they want and upload its icons and then their users can choose from them.  im running a collegiate/university type of forum and i want users to be able to select and display their school's logo.  this will just be in the same format as the country flags mod but i just dont know how to edit the mod..     another scenario would be if you run a sports forum, i think it would be nice if members can select their team and display their team's logo..

With permission from the original developer JayBachatero I've taken this mod on.

The changes you suggest are really quite minor in nature and would simply need a new set of icons for each application and a different array of selections to match the icons. The array is edited into Subs.php in the Sources directory as part of installing the mod and would have to be recoded...though that is an easy task.

I wouldn't see it as necessary to go to the extent of a big recoding to make the array swappable via ACP and the icons also swappable...rather overkill.

I will provide support for the mod via SMF Helper http://www.smfhelper.info/forum/index.php and if you'd like to join that site we can discuss your particular requirements for your intended use of the mod and if you'll provide suitable icons I will endeavor to, in turn, provide you with a version that will handle them. Most users with a modicum of php knowledge, or even just enough to work out the existing structure, can probably make these changes for themselves but if it's needed I'll support those changes too.

You've taken over this mod? Are there any plans for a Country Flags version for SMF 2.0?
My members like it so much that they don't want to upgrade if it means losing the flags.
