New posts since YY/MM/DD HH

Is there currently a mod or anything built in to SMF's syntax so that I can provide a link for my users that, for example:

Show all new posts made in the previous 6 hours
Show all new posts made in the previous 2 days

Ideally users could specify in their profile the default setting for their account, and then just click and have new messages since ____ be displayed.

I recognize the "new posts since last login", but this get's "wiped" out in error at times when users must exit/reboot, etc...and then they're lost.
