A mambo-smf bridge bug?

I'm not sure whether or not its a bug I've found, but I've had this problem ever since I installed the mambo bridge for this new site I'm making.

Quoting and quick editing does not work, and I only just realised now it is the mambo bridge that is doing it. I posted a topic about it last week but no one answered me, so I've reinstalled the forum since. And step by step I was checking whether or not quoting was working, and it worked all until the moment when I installed the smf bridge into mambo and logged in through it.

I want you to see for yourself.

This is the forum viewed through the mambo url:
http://www.52teenagers.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=37&topic=6.0
try the quote button there! Doesn't work. If you're using explorer, you will get a line saying "error on page" in the status bar.

Now click here, same thread, but viewed through the board url:
http://www.52teenagers.com/board/index.php?topic=6.0
click quote there. IT WORKS!

Smf version Im using is 1.1 RC2, and mambo is 4.5.2. Does anyone else use exactly that combination? Has anyone ever encountered something like this?

Can anyone help me on this matter at all?

Please, I'm quite desparate!

btw.. if someone could be so kind to move this to the mambo/joomla support forum, I thought I was posting this in there, but somehow now I realise I wasnt... thanks!

Do you have Quick Reply enabled or not?

tinatoth

yep, its on by default.  hmm not sure if its on for guests... basically when i click the quote button, the page scrolls to the quick reply box, but nothing happens, and the status bar in explorer shows a yellow exclamation mark saying "error on page". same thing happens if i click the quick edit icon. all that javascripting simply doesnt work.

in firefox, also nothing happens, and if i have the javascript console open, it pops up these errors when i press the quick reply button:

QuoteError: no element found
Source File: http://www.52teenagers.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=36?action=quotefast;quote=13;sesc=c946f6e25dfa8bea2af5c555484d5a5a;xml
Line: 6, Column: 1
Source Code:
^
QuoteError: XMLDoc.getElementsByTagName("quote")[0] has no properties
Source File: http://www.52teenagers.com/board/Themes/default/xml_topic.js
Line: 25

if that means anything... :/

any news on this one?

Ive managed to get everyone to use the http://www.52teenagers.com/board link to use the forum, since it was a new forum, so it works well now. But the people I made the site for would like me to wrap the forum so that it can have the site's links on top, and if I do that, I think I won't be able to use the direct link to the forum anymore, and then the quoting bug will return.

Also I have another forum which also uses the mambo bridge, but it's an older version and I would like to upgrade it to the current... but if the same bug appeared I wouldn't be able to make hundreads of existing members change their bookmarks... since now they visit it through the /index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=34 kinda link...

Iam waiting for a solution too :S

no you are not...   if you are having issues, they would be different from the ones posted in this thread, because the bridge has been updated since this thread (yikes, the last post in this thread is nearly a year old!)

Please do not PM, IM or Email me with support questions.  You will get better and faster responses in the support boards.  Thank you.

I'm not 100% sure, but it could be to do with the wrong component ID being specified in the URL. I never even bothered changing it for the forum I made that post above for, cos everyone bookmarked it with the direct URL and that has been so for so long, there's no point in changing.

Recently I upgraded another 1.0.9. forum to 1.1.0. and I had to install the new bridge too. The component ID then changed from 34 to 0 for some reason, and everyone had to change their bookmarks if they wanted their quoting and quick-editing to work.

Try seeing if this is the problem you have too cheloman. I'm not sure how to figure out what your REAL component ID is, the way I did is cos when I installed the new bridge it automatically put a new link to the forum into my main menu in mambo, and that one had the correct link. Not sure how to figure it out other than that. Or maybe try zero, mine was 0 by default it seems? Maybe someone can give a better tip...
