need help with button script

I'm needing to know how to script my chat button to open new window. I have users who are posting and chatting at the same time, so they need to have two windows open. Right now they have to log in to forum, inter chat, then go to browser open new window re-enter forum. Any idea's? I'm running smf1.1.1 & fc4.7.8 non-intergated.

try adding target="_blank" in the link to your chat room.
so like <a href="link_to_chat.php" target="_blank">Chat</a>
