:D THANKS!! Ok now one more thing. How do I make it so a forum requires certain amount of posts in order to gain access?

codenaught

In Admin / Boards / Allowed Groups you can select the membergroups you want to allow access to the board. This includes post count based membergroups, so if you wanted you could only check certain post count based membergroups have access to the board. You can configure the number of posts required to be in each post count based membergroup in Admin / Membergroups / Post count based groups.

One last thing. I have a password mod. I can't seem to get it to work. I think its because my forums are child forums... What are child forums and how do I remove it?

EDIT: Ok I see what you are saying, but how do I make it so that the USERS can see the forums, but NOT GO INTO them without a certain ammount of posts. I want them to know they are there so they can work for it.

codenaught

In that case you may want to try this mod.

For the password mod, are you talking about this mod? If it is not installing successfully, that is because the mod doesn't appear to be compatible for SMF 1.1.

Thanks and yea thats the mod I was talking about. Can you let me know why it doesnt work. The password mod thing.

codenaught

Well the password mod was designed for an older version of SMF so it needs to be updated to be able to install on the latest version of SMF 1.1. An SMF Team Member is looking into updating the mod soon so it is compatible with SMF 1.1.1.

OK thanks. Another thing how do I add mods. OR I really want to create a usergroup that has the same powers as a user but just kind of like a clan thing. Like I have a group designers, THEY CAN'T POST!! I look into it and it says I have to make them be able to post for EVERY BOARD!! I dont want to have to go in and make them postable on every board. I have over 20 boards.... So is there a way I can MASS give them permission or something? Heck whats your AIM or something Ill let you help me out with my site lol you seem to know what you are doing.....

codenaught

Well there are two types of permissions, global permissions and local permissions. The global permissions set will be in effect in all boards that use global permissions. So as long as most of your boards are set to use global permissions, you would not have to set the permissions for moderators for every board just the general global permissions which is the default page in Admin / Permissions.

What about other usergroups? Is it the same?

codenaught

Well permissions work for all groups similar to how they work with guests except that some permissions are not applicable for guests.

Ok cool. Now how do I add moderators lol. Also if I make it global does that mean my guests can see the forums and come in and read everything

Also is there a way to password protect the package manager so other people can not use it?

SleePy

Global Moderator is a person who moderates all forums. To add a moderator of just that board Go to Admin -> Boards -> (Board Name) Modify

Then go down a bit and you will see a Moderators field. Enter their names and save (It also has a handy search to find them). They will now be moderators of just that board.

Ok. One more thing. Can I password protect the packages now that I have all i need installed? Cause I have a problem with one of my friends he doesnt stop installing stuff I dont want. He doesnt get the idea...

Also how do I make mods quickly. Like if I want to add mods to multiple forums at once.

JohnnyMcKinney

To add a moderator of just that board Go to Admin -> Boards -> (Board Name) Modify

That didnt work. They show up on the main page as the are moderators, but when you click their name they dont have the moderator stars nor do they have their powers.
