it might help to know that all the code that is spewed to the browser is the last 75% of the Subs.php file.  I don't know exactly what that means but it is interesting.

Sorry for posting it on the wrong board... that's what happens when one panics... 

Anyway... can I try a complete new install while pointing to the old data base?

just reupload the files and upgrade again. you dont need to do a complete fresh install.

Just re-uploaded the files and updated and it works now, but my custom theme is completely kaput...

Oh well...
